Hey good people of SLC....I'm interested in interior photos of what the old portion of the airport that's still open looks like. Thanks. No photos but I can tell you that the C, E and F piers are the same as before. The shops/food courts/terminals along the old main spine are all closed (McDonald's...Jump to post
Fascinating. Major events like the pandemic (or catastrophic hurricanes, etc.) usually result in shake-ups of routes and market shares. JetBlue is really looking aggressive on this front, along with UA. AA and DL are largely sitting back (especially DL, which is pretty unusual for it). Agreed, DL's...Jump to post
My home airport is JAC which has become A319 central. All four airlines that fly here use 319s on everything from 35 minute JAC-SLC to 5 hour JAC-BOS. Must be an economical, versatile plane if they all choose it (AA, DL, F9, and UA.) Pretty cool when there is a whole line of 319s in different liveri...Jump to post
JAC would be a logical addition after HDN with more year round, high yield leisure demand.Jump to post
Press release from SLC airport today: https://slcairport.com/pressroom/news-releases/2020/salt-lake-city-international-airport-plans-transition-to-the-new-slc/ Looks like I'll be booking a flight for the 14th as that will be the last day all parts of the original airport will be accessible for trav...Jump to post

Flying out of ONT the other day, and was interesting to note 13 Alaska/Horizon aircraft parked in a holding area between T2 and the International arrival terminal. It appeared to be a mix of E175 and B737 aircraft, in tight line up, and with engine intake covered. Are there other smaller stations i...Jump to post
I don’t know about United but I think Delta has basically said they are only going forward with projects that can be done more cheaply during this time of reduced air travel. That includes things like the Salt Lake City terminal upgrade. I think even that policy may be revisited. Also the Skyway at...Jump to post
Delta seems to have made a big bet against skiing this winter. Big ski cuts for DL. No more Aspen, Steamboat or Telluride. Only one route left for EGE, one for SUN and two for JAC after December.Jump to post
ISN'T WN receiving money from Steamboat resorts to do this? Possibly, although this article notes voters axed a tax that was contributing to the air service program. https://www.steamboatpilot.com/news/some-winter-flights-axed-as-steamboat-air-program-reserves-running-dry/ I live in JAC and the air...Jump to post
A lot of chatter about BZN getting WN service in the spring of 2021? I would say yes if Covid wasn't happening. I know BZN Has 4 new gates set to open in the spring of 2021. Anything is possible I guess since they are chasing leisure traffic. I don't think anyone saw 3 daily DEN and 1 weekend DAL g...Jump to post
AA has been growing like crazy in JAC. Used to be one seasonal flight to DFW. Now 3 per day plus 2x ORD, all mainline.Jump to post
After therm merger with Virgin America, and given their route map is heavily based on West Coast / Pacific states... Is the Alaska brand THAT strong that people think of them for a flight such as LAX-SLC (meaning so not-Alaska related)? I would guess low single digits of Alaska’s ASMs have anything...Jump to post

Does anyone know how many new gates and across what terminals will Delta operate in? The west portion of Concourse A opening on Sept 15th will have 25 gates, all of which are for Delta. That's not enough for their entire operation so I suspect Delta will also continue using C and maybe some of F. B...Jump to post
I have confirmed with SLC management that the new terminal and Councourse A will open September 15th. The midfield Concourse B will follow on October 27th. Concourse E has already been demolished and D will close soon. C, F and G will continue operating for some time after the new airport opens.Jump to post

Are they banking on demand from gas exploration? (It can't be coal.) Are they excited just to burn money thru the allowed FAA guarantee/subsidy period? Guess I'll miss out on the new parts of the terminal as I'm flying STL-MSP-BOI-SLC-STL in early August. What's the state of open eateries at the moment? I've got about 2 hours in SLC and plan on grabbing lunch there on my layover. About a third of restaurants open in SLC as of this week. Recommend ...Jump to post

Wow, Aspen losing two of its three airlines. In general a big hit to the Colorado ski towns. I live in Jackson Hole and was surprised to see no one try to drop JAC. We have fared well so far. Certainly seems possible the crew made three major errors: 1) Forgetting to put the gear down. 2) Not realizing the master alarm was activated due to the gear being up. 3) Going around after engines contacted the ground (or too late just prior to ground impact.) Of course just a guess based on what ...Jump to post
