I hope the DOT tells B6 to go pound sand. Why? It's a temporary suspension. It's among a dozen cities proposed, including DFW and IAH. I'd be surprised if they didn't intend to restore service -- not that it matters, because if they'd like to drop one or more cities, it'll eventually happen. But st...Jump to post
Spirit eff. 8 April 2020:

The 7pm arrivals bank on Tuesday 3/17 was crazy. Very busy with Minnesotans repatriating from mostly warm weather destinations. My baggage claim was belt 6 with a PSP, DTW, and ATL flight arriving. All 3 flights had a 20+ minute wait for bags - I would assume because it had been slow the rest of th...Jump to post

Schedule extension delayed from Feb 13 to March 12th now. Well with Boeing saying the MAX will require Sim training and the FAA saying should be ungrounded by mid year. WN probably has to rethink and release a schedule without all the MAX8 in it. Have a more conservative slow approach to additional...Jump to post
NK is not going to add JAX to its MSP routes. Far better options out there. Remember when they served higher demand cities like BOS, SEA, ORD, and PHL? I do remember when NK did serve higher demand cities such as BOS, SEA, ORD, and PHL nonstop from MSP, but SY does serve BOS, SEA, ORD, and PHL nons...Jump to post

For reference that replacement A/C departed from ATL about 20 minutes after the broken A/C ...Jump to post
Great post on all the cities. For MSP, they really only have 9 regular cities served. Those in Florida are Saturday-only in Jan/Feb/Mar (some only March, really).
So, having the base be just 9 is how I see MSP. Wondering when the MAX returns if WN will add there. Been stagnant for a while.
While they might be closer, they could also be a lot more expensive and also full. The paintshops in Europe are just fully booked. Had a few bankruptcies here (AirBerlin, WOW, Thomas Cook, Germania etc.) in the last time so a lot of planes have to be repainted. There is even an AirBerlin-Airbus now...Jump to post
How did you come up with the MSP decline? According to their own website (mspairport.com), the number of passengers increased from 2017 to 2018. 38,034,341 in 2017 to 38,037,381 in 2018. Albeit very minor, MSP did this with nearly 9,000 fewer operations, indicating a seats/flight increase. The FAA ...Jump to post

The delay is 79 minutes according to the news do to wind. Apparently that’s “severe” in MSP. People in the NY metros would consider that normal. Except there is not a valid reason for delays in NY, other than "volume." MSP had very few cancellations and, as was previously posted, some of ...Jump to post
"About 25 flights have been canceled and 80 flights delayed at the Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport as of 8:30 a.m."
Really, that's nothing.
Just saw the news WN is pulling the MAX8 off the schedule until March 6, 2020. Like every Schedule release they add all this new inventory with the MAX8 back in the schedule. Then seems like a week later start the cancellations and rebooking. The MAX8 has been grounded long enough Maybe they should...Jump to post

Would love to see WN get a MSP-LGA nonstop! Might have to dream a long time for that. Tons of competition into the NYC market out of MSP. WN does not seem overly willing to go up against heavy competition markets out of MSP. Why don't they fly to LAS? They don't do LGA-LAS because it's beyond perim...Jump to post

WN had said in yesterday's earnings call that it is planning on significantly expanding at HOU, and WN adding MSP-HOU nonstop service might happen with WN planning on significantly expanding at HOU. Didn't happen this extension. In fact, for MSP, only a 6th Denver flight and 3rd STL segment were ad...Jump to post
Looks like another positive month for passenger traffic and YTD is up too. https://metroairports.org/sites/default/files/opreports/September%202019.xlsx Interesting how Sun Country and Southwest are joined together in the "other" category. Hmm, do not see LAS-MSP available. WN typically loads nonstop in the month of March. There are also many WN stations smaller than MSP (by number of passengers in H1 2019) that still have daily nonstop service to LAS on WN, including AMA, BHM, BOI, BUF, DSM, ELP, LIT, SDF, LBB, MAF, OKC, OMA, RNO, G...Jump to post

Load Factor question regarding WN. In May (most recent data available), WN ran around a 86.5 LF across their network. At MSP, all carriers were at 86.55, but WN originated at 79.45, while having 87.79 with MSP as the Destination airport. Can someone explain why WN would be so low on origination flig...Jump to post

I am excited to see Spirit grow. Any idea where they go next? I think they would do well building up at MSP. With what gates? E is full with NK, AA, AS, UA, F9 Spirit did say that they were interested in expanding at constrained airports no? That’s not an answer to gate capacity. And they haven’t a...Jump to post
