It is my understanding that they cannot legally coordinate until they receive final approval expected in September. It makes sense to add capacity in constrained airports now, as there is the possibility they will need to divest some routes and gates to satisfy anti-trust concernsJump to post
VX has been very quiet since the acquisition announcement, so it's nice to see some expansion. IIRC they were planning and hinting at quite a bit of expansion earlier this year, so I hope we'll hear more soon. The final approvals are some time away and it seems like it will be a while before AS and ...Jump to post
MEM and MSY were probably mentioned together because of Viking River Cruises which were supposed to start in 2017, now pushed back to 2018. MSY could probably still support a couple flights to LGW and Paris. I don't think DE would disqualify MSY because FRA is only 2x weekly seasonal. FRA is probabl...Jump to post
WN hasn't shown much willingness to compete in CLE in particular and is generally tight on aircraft. If CAK gets cut, I think best case would be maybe 1-2 ATL moved to CLE, and maybe HOU or MSY. That would give them some decent Florida and Texas connections and good O&D without so much ULCC comp...Jump to post
I wouldn't expect DL to "dislodge" AA or UA per se, but considering what they've manage to do at LAX and in NYC the past several years they could if they wanted. I think we'll see DTW keep the small markets and connecting stuff and ORD get some of the bigger business markets and focus citi...Jump to post
WN is already all but out of CAK now. CLE may have low fares, but it has high costs (something like $17 per enplanement) so CAK allows them to grow in the area and save some money doing it. For a lot of people in the area CAK is just as easy or easier to get to than CLE, even more so if you consider...Jump to post
Wow. Definitely a big change in strategy with CLE just an hour up the road and LBE not that far either. Will MKE be NK's next city? One thing I missed after WN drew down CAK was cheap LGA and BOS nonstop service. Wonder if they'd give those a try. On a personal note, I hope that NK will consider CLE...Jump to post
I wonder if NK is just reshuffling flights, or if those are all permanent cuts. It doesn't bode well to see what seems is them bowing to pressure from AA. If they are permanent, that would be the first cut NK has made in MSY and incidentally DFW was the first route started back in 2013 My guess is ...Jump to post

Unless BNA plans on doing something fast with there international gate and concourse "A" I don't see BA or anyone else for that matter operating at transatlantic flight. What is the situation here? I've heard it mentioned but what would be keeping a Euro flight away? Based on some numbers...Jump to post
We know (through expense reports) that MSY's director has been in talks with BA officials even as Condor was preparing to announce its FRA service. The business and tourism leaders are still talking about London and pushing hard for it. The hope is that landing DE will give local leaders an advantag...Jump to post
A lot of F9's route planning seems like dartboard work to me. Not a dartboard. It's not that much different than NK, except NK struck gold in DFW when they started diversifying. The bloom is off that rose, but they have a beachhead now. F9 might have had that at TTN, but it evaporated and at ILG an...Jump to post
A lot of F9's route planning seems like dartboard work to me. Even for the leisure traveler all of these 3-4x/week routes aren't very useful. I can't speak to many of their other stations, but here at MSY, they've tried a number of routes but have averaged less than two flights per day. Meanwhile NK...Jump to post
I want to echo the appreciation for these posts. Long time lurker, but I look forward to seeing these every week. It's great to see B6 finally expanding at MSY with 2x BOS extended through the winter and the new FLL service. Now might be a good time to try MSY-MCO - WN has shrunk their service and F...Jump to post
I've always liked RDU and it would be a nice place for a small connecting operation. Here are the largest unserved domestic markets in Q4 2015 (in PDEW): AUS 132 SAN 119 MSY 97 MCI 94 PDX 77 The top three will depend on DL's willingness to overfly ATL. AUS probably has enough business demand. MSY is...Jump to post

I have to agree that NK's IROPS policies are probably the biggest thing keeping me away. I like to travel often and packing light is not a problem, but the fear of getting stuck or having to pay an arm and a leg for a last-minute flight on another carrier in the case of a cancelation keeps me away. ...Jump to post
I haven't seen numbers less than 5 years old. MSY certainly can't compare to IAH for demand, but NK could significantly stimulate traffic, especially to CUN, SAP, MBJ, SJO. People routinely drive from LFT, BTR, JAN, GPT, MOB, and beyond when nonstop service is available from MSY. Fares are already h...Jump to post

We've been hoping for MSY - CLE and RDU for years, but not holding our breath since WN has been pretty flat here lately. I always thought SNA would be a nice add, with plenty of connections to Florida, DC and other points east. But LAX has seen a lot of increases lately with AA, NK starting, but UA ...Jump to post
