Re: Southwest Fleet/Network Thread - 2019

I absolutely agree about WN moving the FLL international flights, but I feel better suited for ATL. Better connecting location and larger o&d. If they're committed to ATL long term, this would be the way to go as far as a Caribbean gateway. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk Pro WN spent a lot of...

What’s up with all the year over year AA cuts at ORD in January? I know it’s a slow month, but it was slow last January too.

Looks like WN is trimming a bunch of long flying.

WN has never done much with timing connections at FLL. It seems they could enhance those loads a bit on both ends if they did. And yet they seem to be counting on connections at BNA.

It would be interesting to note how many people are stranded over night due to missed connections at EWR. When your flight is on the first to delay/cancel list, getting stuck overnight happens quite frequently (with the caveat that if UA knows you are going to miss the connection before your flight...

Seems like a fairly substantial AA trimming of frequencies at PHL pretty close in (June). Is there a logistical issue, upgauging, or lower than expected bookings/capacity trim?

Looks like DL is adding a 2nd daily for BTV-ATL for the summer. With AA retrenching a tad bit (5 dailies to PHL this summer vs 6--all mainline--dailies last year) it's nice to DL fill a void a bit that should keep price pressure on UA. Seems to be a little thinning of frequencies and gauges. Frequencies at BWI are down a bit and there are -700s in places where -800s have been. I think there is a more underlining issue that no one is addressing. With BTV growing on one side, PWM growing on the other side, and PSM adding flights, and BOS to the south. What DL MHT-DTW mainline service are you talking about? There is no mainline. There are 2 (only!) flights per day on CRJ-700's. Re: WN's Next Schedule Extension Due Out Sept 27, 2018

WN also is rethinking growth plans for 2019/20 due to the rise in fuel prices. And possibly start retirement of the early 700NG airframes sometime next year. I only expect normal bulk flying extended with maybe one or 2 additional new nonstop markets. Flyguy I think these are the reasons people don...

Re: Demise of WN in the PNW

Hawaii flying is not primarily O&D. Perhaps LA and Vegas could be made that way, but . . As WN gets started in Hawaii, they need to fly from the places that have the most connections (OAK) or the most O&D (LAX). A case could be made for flying from ONT, but it doesn't make sense to fly from...

Re: Demise of WN in the PNW

We are seeing similar things network wide. Flights are being trimmed everywhere to reflect O&D patterns. In general, flights between big cities are getting more connections as those with less ability to support nonstops on an O&D basis drop. This may be enhanced by WN's aircraft getting larg...

Re: The Rest of New England (BDL/PVD/MHT/PWM/ORH/BTV/HVN) - 2018

I couldn't find the reference, but if they do consider the MHT fees, then it tells me MHT incentives (if any) weren't enough. Can't get much cheaper than PSM though. No substantial airport passenger services and bargain seeker clientele. G4 counts on ancillary fees and services for flight profits. ...

Re: The Rest of New England (BDL/PVD/MHT/PWM/ORH/BTV/HVN) - 2018

Question is did MHT even try for G4? If MHT mgmt. feels that they can depend on spillover service from BOS, it is going to challenging in the current times when there are other airports in the region who are vying for new service. I agree with you - not a good news for MHT. According to someone on ...

Hmm, PSM-MCO? That should put some heat on WN's MHT-MCO. It will be interesting what, if anything WN does to respond.
Doesn't Allegent already run something to Florida from PSM? It will be interesting to see if they can co-exist at PSM.
