Re: QR postpones start of DOH-GIG-SCL indefinetely

I knew it! Last month people from Emirates visited SCL to analyse the launch of the route. They certainly took advantage of the QR blockade.

AF runs CDG-SCL daily with a 773, KLM flies 6w AMS-EZE-SCL with a 773, IB operates MAD-SCL daily with a 340 and AZ flies 5w FCO-SCL with a 772.

Didn’t see this one coming, I would have guessed for a EZE-GRU-TLV, but it’s great news and certainly LATAM is developing a lot of interesting long haul routes lately, hope the best for them.

I just talked to some high level guys in LATAM during the launch of the Santiago-Melbourne route and asked them about the SFO rumor. They smiled and said there will be new announcements in the coming weeks and that the SFO route will depend on what happens with the JBA with AA.

Re: Air Europa outlines new routes and increased service to South America

Still amazes me how badly they planned their operation to SCL, which in the end forced them to axe the route due to a poor response from the market. With a 787 and a decent timetable and frecuencies they could be more competitive in the Chile-Spain market. Heck, Plus Ultra is trying it (which I thin...

Good to know, that route was long overdue and I wouldn't be suprised if BA increases frecuencies in the short term. LATAM should start LHR too in a combination of flights from both companies. I wander who was more affected with BA entrance, AF or IB, regardless of the latter being in OW.

The new route is expected to add some 75.000 n...
