"For Bastian, the idea of giving away premium seats for the same price as economy seats, or even upgrading frequent flyers for free, is no longer a profitable option." Funny, DL seems pretty profitable. They get rid of upgrades loyalty will disappear. Unless American and United follow as ...Jump to post
All those people at an open air concert and no one returned fire? They had the right to defend themselves, surely if they'd all be armed with like weapons they would've been able to confirm the source of the shooting and just obliterated the front of the Mandalay until this crazy killer was dead. Oh, I see it now. This looks like satellite imagery to me and an aircraft at high altitude (evident by the contrails) happened to be in the scene when the scene was captured. I work in the mapping industry and I see from time to time when an aircraft is captured below the imaging sensor. The wavines...Jump to post
Have you bothered to read the Federal Register submission to see what is actually proposed? Sorry Bob, I didn't have time to read through a government website. I still have this other job thingy that pays the bills. This is the argumentative equivalent of saying "whatever" and walking away.Jump to post
As you zoom in and out you are likely hitting different photography dates. Different mission dates usually have a different scale, so the zoom level is going to determine which mission you see.
Do you have a latitude/longitude coordinate where you can see the plane?
I don't operate a drone, or UAV as I call them (drones break things and kill people). I work in the mapping industry so of course everyone is trying to figure out how to do small scale mapping using UAVs rather than use expensive aircraft with expensive aerial cameras. I get a lot of mapping project...Jump to post
Here is a look at flight options "out east" on United to get to Sydney. I selected a sample date of January 24 and eliminated the large cities with plentiful connections to SFO and IAH (such as EWR, IAD, BOS). I did not consider connection times of less than 1 hour....booking a domestic to...Jump to post
Multiple media reports say the mayor of Rockport is confirming at least death in his city. Pictures from Rockport in various media websites show it took the full brunt of the hurricane when it made landfall. Many older and unreinforced structures all over town have significant and in some cases seve...Jump to post
I'm pretty sure I-25 between Colorado and Wyoming had the worst post-eclipse traffic in the entire country. The drive from central and eastern Wyoming back to the Denver metro after the eclipse ended was between 10 and 12 hours (in normal traffic it is less than 4 hours). One of my friends viewed th...Jump to post
I wonder about ATL-ANC when the 763s are gone. I understand winds aloft can make that flight often take a payload hit. A dummy booking for June 2018 on Delta's website shows this flight is scheduled to be operated by a 752. In fact, it's being operated by a 752 now. Flightaware shows since yesterda...Jump to post
If UA can run 757s from DEN to HNL, LIH, OGG, and KOA then DL can use a 757 from SLC. As several people have already pointed out, the SLC-HNL route is going to an A330 once the non-ER 763s are gone. UA uses the 752 DEN-KOA/OGG/LIH and back with no issues. Currently they are flown with RR powered 75...Jump to post

Does anyone know the A330 routing to get it to SLC? Will it come from the LHR, CDG, or other city?
I have plans to drive up to eastern Wyoming from Colorado to view the eclipse. I'm starting to fear traffic on I-25 and I-76 before and after the event may be worse than what we see during snowstorms. Additionally, I just found out that the solar glasses I purchased on Amazon are likely fake and I c...Jump to post

Other flights bound for PHL are starting to enter into holding patterns based on a quick glance at Flightaware, so yes this looks weather related. Checking the current weather radar, it looks like a couple of growing thunderstorms to the west is squeezing the arrival corridor.Jump to post

I asked about blast fences several times in the other thread but nobody replied to I but kept talking about the woman who lost her life there. Isn't this a resumption of service and not "new service"? I seem to recall Frontier serving OKC in the 2000s. Think it was using Lynx Aviation DHC8s to DEN, but that should still count as Frontier service.Jump to post
Something like this has been possible for a long time. Back when I had Global Service status with United, one of the benefits was I could get a seat on any flight, even if it is sold out. The catch was I had to book a full Y fare. If this resulted in an oversold flight, volunteers were sought. Someo...Jump to post
One of my family members was the purser on that flight (the one who was not punched). In an e-mail from her, she said the guy was like the Incredible Hulk...he would just not go down. I took this day off for vacation to make sure I don't miss this. I live about 3 hours away from the center of the path of totality. For every question like this in this forum, before posting one should always:
1. Check Flightradar24
2. Check Flightaware
3. Check the flight status on the airline's website (most show the aircraft type).
Most of the time this will answer their question right there and avoid these kinds of topics.
Being discussed here:
Gary Kelly the CEO of Southwest, said they have been working for years toward no overbookings and will not do so going forward. Nice corporate speak. He is essentially saying "We're trying to try to not overbook". Either allow overbooking or do not. As Yoda said, "Do or do not. There...Jump to post

I'm flying into SFO on a Friday evening arriving shortly after 7:00pm. I need to get to a hotel near the Amtrak station in Emeryville after arrival. What is the best way to get there? Uber?
