I think CHO has the potential to grow significantly in a post Covid environment. CHO is a rapidly growing area with a major university and a lot of wealth. A limitation is it runway which is under 7000 feet. But I think flights to Florida, DFW, and possible DEN could happen within the next 5 years....
Jump to postI think UA is just a bit too late to the party. The TPA/PIE area is chock full of low fare competition like MCO and FLL. If UA has the desire to create a SE to Caribbean gateway, they might as well go full speed and fight it out in FLL or MIA and make a play for the O&D traffic. If the thought i...

Jump to postUS did not fly any Boeing 727-100's inherited from Piedmont as PI retired them from their fleet in 1983. US inherited 727-200's from both PS and PI in relation to the mergers of 1987-1989, and had previously removed 727's in both versions from their fleet much earlier. All of PSA's 727s had been re...

Jump to postThere has been new regional jet services on AA launched from CLT in the past year and CLT didn’t do any ‘big news’ announcements in the past. Jump to postThat’s a pretty cool with all of the 5 takeoffs. Makes sense with how close it was to the terminal. Was 5 used for landings when it was used for takeoffs or did they use 36 to land? I guess in the late 70s they could use 5 for both, as the traffic wasn’t anywhere as busy when the PI started.
Jump to postHas this runway ever been used for departures in either direction? Also I have never recalled any flights landing on runway 5, has that ever happened before? I remember back in the 80s, USAir operated a couple of flights on the south side of B, maybe B9, B11. The red tail really stuck out with all of those white UA tails.
I guess UA has the ground handling contract instead of US operating out of D at the time with all of the ‘other’ airlines.
Here’s the Denver page of the OAG from 1991 and 1995. Domestic only in ‘91 and in ‘95, the only international was MEX.

Doing this off of memory, but I believe UA was only domestic from DEN. The London flight was on CO and even the YYC flight mentioned was operated by Delta, inherited from Western before the days of open skies between the US and Canada.

I was a little uncomfortable with the exits on the F-100 in case of an emergency. You had the overwing exits around row 11-14 depending on the configuration, but the plane had no exits in the aft, unlike other T tail mainline jets of the time like the DC-9, MD-80, 727.
