there was a tremendous amount of fanfare today for what was arguably the most important event in the history of the entire airport. Let's hope now thatvit is very real that the service is well utilized... thete were about 100 on the first inbound and about 150 going out. Once I figure out how to at...Jump to post
Obviously I'm hoping for a new Canadian destination. When the Canada-EU Open Skies deal was signed, FI immediately announced YYZ and at the time said that YUL, YOW, YWG and YYT were on their potential list of cities served. Well since then they've launched YEG, YVR and YUL, so 3 of the original 4 me...Jump to post

All expansion. Rouge is getting a handful of 767s next year.
In Canada YEG and YOW are the largest airports without regularly scheduled 787 services. However, YOW has seen quite a few 787s sub in on Rapidair runs to YYZ (usually subbing in for a 767). In fact in Canada, only the main 4 hub airports have 787 service at the present time. Eventually YOW will hav...Jump to post
YVR-NGO & YVR-TPE those are old CP routes that were dropped over a decade ago and are now back.
YUL-MRS is a direct shot at TS. AC has room to add a couple more 763s to Rouge before they're maxed out.
On the Rouge thread, someone successfully called YYZ-TXL.
Westjet is floundering. Just signed an agreement with Suncor to fly oil sands flights. Too many airframes, no places to expand to to fly them. Pilots are disgruntled, ALPA will be set up within two years 1000% guaranteed (yes I know they've had two votes that didn't pass), once the pilots certify t...Jump to post
The Alaskan flights are definitely not surprising (and it was fascinating to read about the towns of Wrangell & Petersburg in the process). What was surprising was to learn about the price of domestic flying in Canada. I would never have expected it. From the responses so far, it seems to sugge...Jump to post

Very nice! Clean and smart.
ealistically though, having Encores add a YBR-YWG probably makes more sense if WS want to eventually offer YBR pax an eastern connection without a massive backtrack, even though YBR-YWG O&D traffic would be low. Between 0900 and 0950 WS have ex-YWG departures to YYZ, YXE, YXU, YOW and YUL. It i...Jump to post
I must say I was not surprised when this route was first announced (remember PW's YYZ-YBR-YYC route?). There never really was demand for YBR-YYZ. PW used it as a way to get scheduled rights into YYZ. When they bought TZ, they had to give up TZ's rights from YWG through YHD/YQT/YAM to YYZ. They flew...Jump to post
Oh....well sorry for bringing it up. We can certainly talk about it now, I was just surprised nobody seemed to care that PHL-YHZ had gone. I think there is a systemic problem with Canada-USA right now for all the obvious reasons and the secondary Canadas are feeling the pinch. enilria wrote: the JV...Jump to post
I must say I was not surprised when this route was first announced (remember PW's YYZ-YBR-YYC route?). However, I was very surprised to hear it would operate year-round and now equally surprised to hear that it's being cancelled with no plans to operate it summer-seasonally. Maybe a 736 on PW's old ...Jump to post
Factoring in the closure of YHZ, by my count AA will be down by approx. 32 daily departures out of PHL in March 2017 vs. 2016. This of course doesn't factor in whether the average aircraft gauge has increased.Jump to post
In the last New Leaf thread I illustrated how the tour operator could have hubbed in YWG and mini-hubbed in YHM with only 3 aircraft and could have served 15 destinations daily in summer and 5x/week in winter with Florida flying the other 2 days. This would be a vastly larger revenue stream with mar...Jump to post
I believe it's supposed to look like ice but what it does is it just looks dirty is all. I like the air canada rouge livery which is more contemporary. Mainland livery needs an update and possibly euro white. While I miss AC's red roundel and double red cheatline, rouge is the next best thing. Whil...Jump to post

I'm not sure I understand your explanation on the day of week change. This is a change vs what was for sale last week, so they actively deleted a flight that was previously for sale. Again, not a huge deal, but odd. The data I have access to does not allow me to add that without cost. That would re...Jump to post
AA retrenchment in Canada has been rather staggering. It's like they're giving up. YHZ will now only be left with year-round daily transborder service to BOS on AC & WS and EWR on UA, plus a weekly 737 to MCO on WS. As was previously said, it'll be interesting to see whether YHZ goes seasonal li...Jump to post
Again, it's probably nothing. It's just odd to be monkeying around with day of week schedules that far in advance in a market lightly served. What do you consider "fairly poor" for ABQ-JFK? 83.5% load factor for FY 2015 with average fares of $159.92 for those just going to JFK (ABQ-JFK-BOS had over 2000 pax with an average fare of $193.29). The ABQ change may be nothing, but it is odd to leave it with no selling flights. Anybody booked on those few flights they axed have no reaccom option. The furthest west the E75s fly is to Saskatchewan on the daily YOW-YQR-YXE-YOW summer-seasonal triangle route. Other than that, I believe the further west they go at the moment is ORD. For the love of everything holy why does AC continue to put their CR9s (I know they are 705s) on these long trans-continental routes, and put the E175 on even shorter routes? Has Palm Springs ever seen widebody flights, even during the 70s & 80s heyday?
Interesting how even respected charter airline Enerjet wanted nothing to do with them. I guess 5T have some surplus capacity given the loss of oil contract work. I think in Frontier's case, the 319NEO is on order mainly to operate at specific airports (e.g. TTN with its short runway).
