RE: Airliner Salesmen

There is a great book written by a retired Boeing salesman that tells about his experiences selling Boeings. I can t remember the name but its available on Amazon, com. I believe they were paid a salary and not commission!
I would take 10% on a sale of 10 777!!

RE: America West

I think that HP is suffering from a bad image when they are actually a very good airline. I am carrying 100,000 FF miles on thier books and Just love that fact that I can go anywhere in the US non-Stop. There is nothing wrong with HP. I however often wonder who would take them over. (oh please oh Me...

RE: Major Carrier At Hub Liked Or Not By ATC

It sounds like someone was just B****ing about a bad day. I have noticed at PHX though that it take a lot less radio traffic to deal with HP and WN as the pilots are in and out of there all day as opposed to say a Delta Flight. Dont get me wrong it just seems that HP and WN are a bit more familiar w...

Yes Go Around I was at GCN 1971-2000 saw them fly in many times. My memory stands corrected by Matt you are right they were not green and white. I happened to be in Vegas the day they stopped flying. Also, does GoAround remember TRISTAR with the Bae 146's? Another good idea run into the ground by in...

It refects the dull AA, Crandall-Carty bottom line rules all thinking. If its only AA available I drag out the SUV and head down the highway!

RE: CityBird Files For Chapter 11

When I was pounding out tickets at a travel agency a few years ago, I had the Extreme headache of booking several people on some of thier flights. While the flights went ok and the customers really had no complaint the booking process was really bad and very difficult for the agent. To get the commi...

RE: Grand Airways?

There was an airline based out of Las Vegas in the early 90's that used to use DC9's for the tour runs fron LAS to GCN.(Grand Canyon) Hence the name Grand Airways. They then tried to expand LAS - DFW and one or two other places and went belly up in a few monthe. They also flew some contract stuff fo...

RE: PHX-BDL-PHX On HP

Ec I cant answer that, there seems to be this backlash in PHX about HP. Why I dont know. I seems to be fashionable to diss HP if you live in PHX. I mean the AZ Republic chastised you in several editorials and I have not seen a word about the improvments. I also find it very interesting that HP made ...

RE: Finally, Some Real TW/AA Pics

I think it kind of jars the senses. The proud TWA logo looks so sad on the AA paint scheme. The final insult is the "An American Airlines Company" tag line. If the only flight available is AA I drag out the SUV and head for the highway!

While I like both aircraft I would have to pick the 777 for coach flights. It has much more room than the 744. Queit also

Landed in PHX the other day 40 min early and all HP gates were full. We were banished to the penalty box for 10 min. It is located on the North Side along runway 6, convienently located at the crossover between runways 6 and 7 Left!

RE: NW 747 Experience?

Having made 15 trips across the pacific on NW's 747 all in Biz I would have to say that they were quite satisfactory. I think the inter Asia service is a bit better however. I love the Flight from NRT to BKK always a great flight. I have only had onee bad flight on NW one of the engines came loose i...

I have flown many flights on the A320 and A319 of HP. I still prefer the Boeings but its really hard to tell the difference, both preform very well and the interiors are almost the same.

RE: EWR-BRU-ZRH-EWR On Continental 767-200s

I flew from IAH to LGW on one of CO's new 777's and it was great the seats were very comfortable. The great thing for me was there were only 97 pax on the plane and everyone got a whole row of seats if the wanted to sleep. I was able to strech out fully and lie down and sleep. I arrived in London re...

The 747 is there for scheduled maintenance at AMS. They have been doing quite a few of NW's 757's lately. It must be a heavy check as its been there for about 5 weeks. Its a 747-200 BTW  Smile

PHX-BDL-PHX On HP

June 21, 2001 PHX - BDL America West Flight 402 A320-200 My latest trip on America West put me over the 100,000 mile mark. I would have to rate the trip very good. I departed Phx 6-21-01 for the non-stop flight to Hartford. The scheduled departure was 9:21 AM. I arrived at the airport at 8:00 AM and...

RE: What's The Weirdest Or Strangest Trip You Had?

On a 1995 trip from PHX to HKG. I was booked on America West Phx to Lax and Northwest LAX to HKG. I was dressed in a jacket and Tie as I had a quick meeting in LA before the flight to NRT and HKG. It was, as it turned out fortunate that I was very early on the PHX - LAX leg. I left PHX at 6:00 AM fo...

RE: BOI-PHX-BUR-OAK-RNO-BOI

Hi all my first post. Being based in Phx and a frequent traveler (currently have 100,00 miles in AWA's Flight Fund) it bewilders me how America West got such a bad reputation. I fly at least 2 times a month and sometime more. I always use America West because they have NON-Stops to most places. I al...
