I had started a new thread. I forgot about this one. My information below details the current situation closer to the original post regarding Norwegian and the 737MAX. This is well over a week since the grounding. With the 737 MAX not flying. Norwegian's current strategy has been to replace SWF-DUB ...Jump to post
With the 737 MAX not flying. Norwegian's current strategy has been to replace SWF-DUB flying with a Dreamliner. Currently you can only book through March 28th. 23-28th shows a $336 roundtrip with no option for Premium Seats (are they flying them empty? or do they have an all Y 787-9? It was discusse...Jump to post
Don't forget to include SY Sun Country. They have now shifted to a full ULCC model. They are much smaller than the others in the market, but they have a sizeable presence at MSP. In my opinion they are being built up to eventually be sold off in a merger. As of now they don't own enough planes, or a...Jump to post
Looked quite smokey in that video. I wonder how often Airport employees/staff are trained on what to do in an emergency. For example the clerks in the various shops, wheelchair assistants, greeters, etc. actually practice their roles in an Emergency. Many airports are like large shopping malls. I re...Jump to post
If it was printing money why were there only two flights a day? Its not so much the demand that was making it print money. There were changes in volume to be sure, but nobody is offering any discount fares to Venezuela. They only people flying to/from absolutely MUST travel there for whatever reaso...Jump to post

I just went to their website to book a ticket. SWF-DUB is showing SOLD OUT for all of Mrach and April and when it does retu...Jump to post

If DY is subbing the 787 on SWF-DUB that's exciting, but I just went to their website to book a ticket. SWF-DUB is showing SOLD OUT for all of Mrach and April and when it does return it is priced at over $800 each way. That is very strange indeed. This was a year round route for them. Shannon and Be...Jump to post

Citybird served OAK-BRU in the mid 90's for a while. They were somewhat of a LCC. Today, I think this might be a good route for Norwegian or Level. People who really want that non stop can have it, they can also fill it with backpackers, etc who don't care where they arrive in Europe. I've flown int...Jump to post

As a non canadian I'm hopelessly confused with all these airport codes. ohhhhhh, how I miss the hover over feature of the old site :( In other news. reaching JFK from Long Island is relatively easy. Most of the population is on the western end of the island and closer to JFK. While ISP may offer certain conveniences. When given the option of a non stop flight from JFK that is cheaper vs a connection from ISP, many will choose JFK. ISP is very di...Jump to post
I flew on a AS branded Airbus last year and loved it. It was very pretty up close. I have a question though I’m hoping someone could answer. On my flight the mood lighting was the VX pink/ purple but I’m noticing a lot of pics of Airbuses with blue... is this something they are switching to before ...Jump to post
JFK is losing another LCC to EWR in the form of XL Airways to France. They also lost Sun Country to EWR recently. Virgin America disappeared leaving Norwegian as an ULCC and jetBlue as a sort of LCC and Level with service to BCN. I wonder if Level will consolidate its EWR and JFK operations the DY s...Jump to post
Building up a hub takes time and only sees good results once you have a network strong enough to support the whole thing. True, but they already have a number of such hubs. Oslo, Stockholm and Copenhagen are the most prominent examples of that. All of them see a good number of short haul feeder fli...Jump to post
I have taken Cathay's 130AM JFK departure and I'd have taken it even later. The traffic to certain airports can be unbearable. In North America Spirit still flies Plattsburgh, NY-FLL departing 255AM and arriving 627AM. It allows for lots of connections to SA and the Caribbean. Departing then is fine...Jump to post
The nonstop between US and Japan(Tokyo and Osaka) is always expensive compare to other places like HKG, PVG, PEK, TPE, BKK, SIN, MNL etc...But the flying distance between Japan and US is closer, even way closer than any cities in South East Asia. The reason cause the higher airfare is because of th...Jump to post
My mom and sister lived in Ft. Lauderdale from 1988-2000 so I was there multiple times a year during the 90s. I took the cheapest fares I could find and got to fly so many carriers before I was 25. Carnival from SWF, HPN and JFK, Braniff III from JFK, Skybus I from EWR, I was happy to see jetBlue co...Jump to post
Thanks to the person who posted the link to the actual aircraft lease. pretty cool reading. They seem to be sending out press releases for rather dull announcements. They keep announcing intentions to serve a variety of airports. Anybody can do that. I could send out a press release saying I intend ...Jump to post
I'm glad I took the chance I did to fly them the first season they offered service. I flew JFK-FDF for juts over $200 roundtrip on a holiday weekend. Flights to Florida were pricing at over $400. jagraham wrote:LAS is mostly leisure, and yields are low. WN doesn't get excited about low yields for flights over 2 hours. WN would rather let those passengers transfer.
Also, how many BDL passengers were transferring in LAS?
Its a shame to see BDL lose service to LAS. I know America West offered it in years past. I'm wondering if Spirit or Frontier will pick it up, even at 4 weekly or something like that.
With Sun Country in PVD, perhaps they will try BDL as well and serve LAS and MSP less than daily.
Is still very odd because 1. there’s a gap in service 2. They never actually announced that they’re dropping JFK 3. They waited until the day JFK service ended to talk about this expansion into EWR 4. Again, they have been at JFK for decades I wonder if something happened or a deal was struck Somet...Jump to post
The overhead bin isn’t a cargo compartment, it’s for securing personal items in the cabin. I’m not sure when it became yet another cargo compartment, and the fact that everyone insists on placing their 30+ pound bags there (which they will not touch during the flight) concerns me from a weight and ...Jump to post
I think many people who don't live in the U.S. Northeast don't understand the weather patterns here in Fall/Winter. As a resident here you need to pay attention to the weather. EVERY Winter we are subject to storms that can easily deliver 18-24' of snow, but the movement of the storm anywhere from 2...Jump to post
I was supposed to fly with B6 LGA-MCO today. Thursday they began allowing you to make changes due to the approaching storm. I switched my flight to SWF-MCO with no penalty (that's the airport I wanted anyway, but didn't have enough points for the ticket, so yay me!). When I saw the forecast Friday, ...Jump to post
I also noticed they are ending all French Caribbean service at the end of March. This had previously been scheduled at least through April and possibly May. I'm glad I flew that route when I could. I got a little carried away, but I found an awesome booking. You can book PVD-YHM with a 6 or 7 hour connection in Dublin.
Its about $1,000 roundtrip, but that would be a fun way to spend a few days. bookable from SWF also.
I did notice that DUB-SWF is down to one daily all through summer.
They are down to daily SWF-DUB..........5XShannon.............2 X weekly Bergen.
Maybe they will base the MAX crews and aircraft in Scandinavia and turn DUB into a mini hub? ARN, CPH, OSL-DUB-PVD, SWF, YHM and reverse. I think there is enough crew time to do this one way in a crew day? It would also provide more intraline connections if it was banked. Just thinking out loud. Ma...Jump to post
The only other option I can think of is if they move SWF and PVD to Dreamliner flights.
SWF is my hometown airport. I was glad I got the chance to take them when I did. I would hate to see them go.
the governor in CT attended the announcement of BDL-DEN for 3 X weekly so I'm not sure you can expect anything great with any governor. That being said. F9 made a big announcement the other day, but then they announced Branson outside, so they could be going for 3 in a row, but Branson was tiny comp...Jump to post
While at BHM yesterday, there were at least 13 plus Allegiant MD80 planes parked. According to an article I read, these have been retired. the article is correct. DOES ANYONE KNOW WHAT IS GOING ON AT JFK? There seems to be a dispute of information on airliners. It looks like they are leaving this week. Some have insisted that they are not. F9 announced BDL a few weeks back with 3x weekly (I believe seasonal) service to DEN, a route already flown by UA and WN. This has to be KILLING Alaska's management.
