AI still flies these routes, minus the BKK stop. Current equipment is the 788, but in the past the 310, 319, 77L and 77W have been used.

Was UA's NRT-SEL/ICN the only 5th freedom route that operated more than 7x weekly? Up until October 2006, UA offered 14x weekly NRT-ICN (UA801 and UA883), all on 777s.

ICN has the capacity to handle 72m pax per year as of now. Last year it handled 68m, which is a 10% growth compared to 2017. It seems theres only 3 daily flights on small equipment on HND - ICN on 737/321 sized aircraft. I do realize the local traffic is all on HND - GMP but maybe the DL/KE joint venture can increase the frequency / equiptment of the flights for international connecting traffic out of ICN!? Clearly this is a domestic configuration, with recliner F seats. I can't imagine JL would use it for intl routes other than ultra short-haul routes to Korea or China. Plus theirs are de-rated A350-942 which doesn't have the range for international routes. Umm...South Korea and Taiwan and PRC routes...

A lot of airlines cut routes to SEL around 1997/1998 due to the Asian Financial Crisis. NW continued to serve SEL via NRT.
DL started flying DTW-ICN in 2010.

STL: AA flew STL-LGW for a few years after the merger with TW.
SJC: AA flew SJC-NRT until 2006. AA also started SJC-CDG and TPE in 2001 but it ended right after 9/11.

Korean Air has its own MRO, and does most of its maintenance in-house. KE's MRO actually does heavy maintenance work for other airlines as well. I would say that's a lot more involvement in maintenance compared to other airlines.
