Best of luck with your dissertation.
What's totally useless for getting an upgrade, but seems to work in A.net lore, is to dress up nicely, start a friendly conversation with the check-in agent, bring them a box of chocolate and what not. I can't imagine the planet one must be orbiting, and/or the level of creepiness required, to brin...Jump to post
Unfortunately I think this is the way most if not all airlines will go eventually. The thing with BA now is there's no incentive at all to fly with them, the only difference between BA and EZY/FR is BA are more expensive. These full service airlines introduce buy on board to keep costs down but don...Jump to post
Ahhh but booking nine months out means you pay a premium to book early! The discount fare buckets on international don't usually open up until about 3-5 months before. Maybe you still came out ahead with a better deal, but my guess is that you probably could have found a slightly lower fare had you...Jump to post
Damn... I've already booked LHR-DEN (via ORD) on AA for September 2017 and by the looks of it, the LGW-DEN flights on Norwegian are available to book now, and are cheaper and with better times than the flights I've booked... If I were you I'd try to cancel the already booked flight and book the Nor...Jump to post
They are a fun airline, but they really need to do something about their Upper Class product. Really in need of a massive upgrade....Onto the video. When you look closely at the aircraft (767), it seems they chose to Photoshop a plane that was sitting in desert storage. Both the cockpit and and pas...Jump to post

Can anyone explain why flying on an ID90 (which I've just searched for and is apparently some kind of discount/standby ticket) would be subject to a dress code different to those on "normal" tickets?Jump to post
Wow that food looks really good for Y!Jump to post
Best of luck with your studies.
Hot & high is less troublesome than it was before but is still an issue, specially the 'high' part of the equation From the 787-8 performance charts we can see that during a hot day (std air temperature + 25C = ~26C) at MEX (altitude 7200 feet) the maximum operational takeoff weight for the 787...Jump to post
Personally I like and dislike aircraft from both manufacturers. My most liked Boeing is the 777-300ER and my most liked Airbus is the A340-600. I'm not overly fond of the 767 range or the A380... not really sure why. Probably purely down to aesthetic reasons. Unfortunately, most preferences like the...Jump to post
If he's not a direct threat to me, who cares. It's not my job to correct someone else's behavior. Agreed. I really don't get the big deal if someone is swearing, using offensive language, etc. It's not pleasant, but frankly nor are loads of other things I see on a daily basis - it doesn't mean I'm ...Jump to post
Thanks for the responses guys. Are you loyal to any alliance ? I try to always fly BA being O/W for my status and TG/BR being *A. Having tried them all on this route I would say there isn't a bad one really. I only travel for leisure out of my own pocket, so I'm not particularly loyal to any carrier...Jump to post
Hello everyone. I will be flying LHR-BKK-LHR in November and have decided I can't be bothered changing (presumably somewhere in the middle east) so I've decided to fly non-stop. That leaves me with a choice of BA, Thai or EVA. Prices are roughly the same across the 3 carriers (£450-500 return) and t...Jump to post

Given the obvious enormous costs associated with starting an airline, you're not going to be able to even think of doing this until you have 8 figures in the bank; 8 figures you'd be more than happy to risk. So I guess the question is then how do you get that kind of money? You either have to find s...Jump to post
Hi guys, Firstly, I apologise in advance, as I know those of you with this information may have had to pay for it, but alas these two entries are missing from my travel log, and I would appreciate it immensely if someone had the information. I flew the following flights and would love to know the ai...Jump to post
What's the heterosexual livery gonna look like? GF Idunno, what do you feel would be an appropriate symbol that could be worked into the livery that says we’re here, we are 92% of the population and we feel a need to call that out because of the hardship and discrimination we have faced and often s...Jump to post
In this day and age there are almost always food options available, no matter how basic. The AC employee saying they couldn't do anything just couldn't be bothered to try. Hats off to the Westjet pilot.Jump to post
Thanks a lot guys. They are 1B70/P2 according to that link. Perfect.Jump to post
And therefore what thrust rating does it have?
I've spent a little time looking around but can't seem to find any site that says anything more than "GEnx-1B" and according to Wikipedia there are plenty of variants of GEnx-1B that are suitable for the 787-8.
I've flown both in Y on BA's 772 and VS's 744, 333 and 789. In all honesty, they're not that different and I'm always a little on the fence as to which one I prefer. Food and drinks are of similar quality on both in my experience and prices are quite often identical to the penny. The only standout d...Jump to post

So the link above states the route is going all 787 from March. Probably should have looked more into this before making the thread!
Oh well, hopefully someone else finds it useful.
I have flown AA's retrofitted 767-300ER from LHR to RDU in October and can confirm that there is no personal entertainment in economy class. These planes are very dated in Y class (J class has newer Boeing Signature style sidewalls and bins which do not continue into Y class). The seats themselves ...Jump to post
So, I've just had news that our LHR-DEN-LHR flight in September will stopover in ORD, which means we're likely to be on a 767-300er for the transatlantic leg. What's the state of these 767s in economy? I've had a look and some websites seem to mention they have no personal IFE.... do these long haul...Jump to post
Merry Christmas gents. I noticed a few flights this morning from LHR with BA flight numbers (one to Brussels and the other to Leipzig) showing an aircraft type of AB6. This refers to the A300-600 right? I didn't realise BA operated this type. Also when trying to track the flights, each one of them s...Jump to post
Hi everyone. Bit of a random question here that's causing me some confusion but I'm hoping you esteemed aviation nuts will know the answer! So I've been keeping an eye on flights from LHR-DEN for a family holiday sometime in September or October next year. Ignoring the obvious direct LHR-DEN on BA, ...Jump to post
Looks like a lovely flight. How did you find the E175? From the take off videos, and seeing them at LCY regularly, they look like they've got some formidable take off performance. Another bucket list jet!Jump to post
Cracking trip report! You've pretty much confirmed everything I had assumed about EK. Annoyingly, the opportunity of flying them hasn't materialised for me yet. Although that might change if I can convince some mates to go via DXB on our trip to Bangkok next year, as opposed to going direct LHR-BKK ...Jump to post
Simply amazing that there are already 500 787's built. It's no surprise that the airlines that operate the 787 are very happy. It has opened up routes that from a financial aspect were unthinkable just a few years ago, and it has set a new bar for airlines to measure future airplanes by. Just think...Jump to post
As I mentioned in the 787 production thread, a perfect 1 to 1 replacement for the A340s, which are 30J/21W/224Y (275 seats total). From the passenger standpoint in coach, the 787 isn't a perfect replacement for the A340. Nobody cares about the passengers. More efficient jet, same number of seats - ...Jump to post
Amazing report - very jealous! I can't believe you got all that for £1500... that's astonishing.Jump to post
Great trip report. You were very lucky to get the 777-200LR - I really want to add that aircraft to my list. I'm traveling LHR-DEN next year, and ignoring the obvious direct flight with BA, there are some connecting options with AC and I'm really considering giving them a try. This trip report gives...Jump to post
