Take it for what it's worth, but an A&P who works for TechOps told me at a career fair in the last couple weeks that the rumor is DL may hold onto a few MD-88s for smaller charter ops (college teams) much as they did with the subfleet of 757s. Any truth to that?

The Dayton Daily News has, on at least one occasion, said BOS and MIA are at the top of DAY's list and DL would be the only logical airline to start it. Plus, DAY-BOS ran in the past with DL.

With regard to the timing, it's worth pointing out AA started their weekend LGA-DAB service last May and it appears it's going year-round, albeit Saturday-only now. LGA-DAB is not catering to connections, CLT takes care of that. It is aimed at the local market. It may grab some connections but it is not the bulk of the route.
