I think that because they already have the A319/320 in their fleet, they will go with the A318, so the pilots can (possibly) become qualified to fly all three, and less pilots will be needed. I've already heard that NW is getting the A330. How long do the older planes (DC-9/10, 727) have left in the...Jump to post
Mine was- DCA-CMH on a US Airways Express/Mesa EMB-145 on July 31, 2001 after a 737-300 flight from MCO. We were supposed to come home from Florida via ATL on Delta on the final L-1011 flight, but we were told that the L10 was retired on July 17. We bought the story, took USAirways (I got to fly a n...Jump to post
I was wondering why airlines who bought the 737-300 didn't go with the 737-400 as well. USAirways and Alaska (and Carnival when it existed) are the only U.S. airlines to have it that I know of. United, Continental, and Southwest have the -300 and the -500, but why didn't they take the -400, too?? Ju...Jump to post
I got a Lego Airport when I was little. (I still have it!) It was really neat, but it apparently wasn't supposed to be a big airport. It came with a Control Tower, a terminal, something that was supposed to be a metal detector, little baggage lockers with a flight schedule on top of it, (had departu...Jump to post
I've never had a problem with any of Delta's Flight Attendants. US Airways is a WHOLE different story.... Great airline, but some of the F/As are iffy. A couple examples- -Rude when they were short on blankets on a flight that the cabin was like a refrigerator. -Yelled at my mom when there was no ov...Jump to post
WOW!!! <img src="/discussions/graphics/wow.gif" ALT="Wow!"> I bet the passengers on the right side of the plane were pleasantly surprised. (At least the men.) That's something you don't see everyday. I never thought I'd see that on a.net! Great job, John!! <img src="/discussions/graphics...Jump to post
Hi! In December, my family and I will be going to Jamaica. So we don't have to get up at 3:00 am to catch the 6:00am CMH-ATL flight, we are leaving a day early, and staying in Atlanta, most likely at ATL, and then going to MBJ at 9:00am the next morning. Where can I get info on the Delta museum at H...Jump to post
I can fit my three favorite planes into this!!
Other ideas I have are: the DC-9, or the 737-800 in shorthaul, the A310 or the 767-300 (not ER) in medium, and the 777-200ER or A330 in the longhaul category.
I was on a Delta L-1011 from TPA to ATL in October 1998. I didn't think to look at the reg. number, but the reason I was wondering is it was the only time I was in the lower galley, and I got to stay on the plane for about 15 minutes, and walk around the plane, sit in the cockpit, talk to the pilot,...Jump to post
I like DL's fleet. 727, 737-200/300/800, 757, 767-200/300/400, 777, MD-88/90, MD-11 (What happened to the MD-11??? Nobody mentioned it above!) Too bad the L10's gone. <img src="/discussions/graphics/frown.gif" ALT="Sad"> <img src="/discussions/graphics/frown.gif" ALT="Sad"> I also like A...Jump to post
There's a Marriott almost at the Airport, which, if you're on the proper side, has a pretty good view of the end of the left runway, and I think Concourses F,G,H. You can also see some planes landing on the right runway, and can barely see Rwy. 30. One time I was there, a 747-200 came about 200 ft. ...Jump to post
Yeah, I agree with you about the DC-8-73. It would still be pretty big today, if maybe Boeing restarted production, made it more technologically advanced, etc. UA kept it until 1991, so it had to be good. I think its a great looking plane. Saw a French Air Force DC-8 at CDG last November- That was g...Jump to post
That's good news for me! If our trip to Jamaica over Christmas gets cancelled because of overbooked flights ATL-MBJ, we may go to London, and now I'll be on an MD-11 instead of a 767! I like the 767-300, but I'd rather go on a bigger jet to Europe. If the Jamaica deal works out, it'll be Air Jamaica...Jump to post
It would be the end of the world! Where else can you find a site this dedicated to aviation??? I haven't found anything like A.net JayDavis, to help answer your question. There may not be anything like A.net out there. (just a guess, not sure!) Airliners.net rules!!!!! <img src="/discussions/g...Jump to post
It would be great to see a new generation of tri-jets roll off the production line! DC-10, 727-200, MD-11, and my personal favorite, L-1011. They should, as mentioned somewhere above, bring back the DC-3. It would be neat if maybe Boeing launched a new generation DC-3 for the 21st Century. I forgot ...Jump to post
It seems like DL wasn't too big with trans-atlantic routes until they swallowed Pan Am's European routes (Frankfurt hub, inter-european routes, etc.) Will any of the airlines cut routes to Europe (or anywhere else that's international) because of Sept. 11? I know DL stopped their Japanese routes, bu...Jump to post
Delta's seats are comfy, First Class seats are great, the F/As are the best I've ever seen (They've stopped to talk to me on two occasions!) and the pilots are nice. (I got to sit in the cockpit w/the captain in STT on the stop on the flight between ATL-STT-STX.)Their paint schemes rock, they have a...Jump to post
This may have been discussed before, but I wanted to see what people thought. If USAirways has to go or wants to go to a big alliance, where should they go?? Skyteam with Delta, Oneworld with AA/BA, Star Alliance with United, or maybe the proposed Wings Alliance with Northwest? What's the answer for...Jump to post
My three favorite airports are, in order: 1) Atlanta/Hartsfield International Airport (ATL) Love it or hate it, it's one unique airport! 2) Orlando/McCoy International Airport (MCO) 3) San Juan/ Luiz Munoz Marin International Airport (SJU) Awesome medium sized airport in the Caribbean. You can see t...Jump to post
HP virtually dominates Concourse B in CMH, but if they are going to have more service, would they need more gates? One idea I have is when the Concourse C is expanded, Delta will be leaving gates C1, C1A, C2, C2A to go to those gates (I heard this on a Columbus news station.) My point is, HP could t...Jump to post
I like Hakkinen, and Schumacher in F1. I watched the U.S. Grand Prix, and try to watch other races, but don't see a lot beacuse they are live, and I'm not up early enough to see them. <img src="/discussions/graphics/frown.gif" ALT="Sad"> Kenny Brack is AWESOME in cart this year!!! Great trip report!! I've always wanted to know what those small Caribbean airlines are like, and now I know! Are most of the airports in the Caribbean small/ medium sized? I've been to SJU, STT and STX, and SJU is nice sized, while STT and STX are somewhat small. Maybe I'll wind up in POS or BGI som...Jump to post
I've received that picture several times. One thing I noticed is that it was an AA 757 (as someone mentioned above) The other thing was that when the plane was coming to hit the tower, it was turning. It wasn't perfectly level, as seen in the picture.
It seems like the last few years have had more crashes than ever before. TWA 800 ValuJet 591 Egypt Air 990 Swissair 11? (I forget the last number, sorry.) the Alaska MD-80 (I forget the flight number again) The SAS MD-87 crash from Monday .... and then the AA and UA crashes from 9/11, to name a few....Jump to post
The 727 is one of the best jets ever! Great looking plane! 727 RULES!!!!!!! Too bad because of the recent events, they will not be around much longer. <img src="/discussions/graphics/frown.gif" ALT="Sad"> (they'll still be around for a while, Delta hasn't said anything about retiring them any ...Jump to post
I haven't been in a scrapped plane, and I've (for some reason) never been to an airport where they are held. For some reason to me, I think that would be a sinking feeling going inside a torn up plane (unless it were in pretty good condition, or temporarily stored, going to another airline, etc.) De...Jump to post

Executive Decision was pretty good, but they messed up some details of the plane, like there is no lower galley on the 747-200 (to my knowledge), and all the flight manuals say "Boeing 747-400, " when the plane is actually a 747-200. There are also some F-14 and F-117 sequences if that's your thing....Jump to post
The only problem is how long will it take to retire them all. Retiring 172 DC-9s will take a while, unless they retire a ton at a time. Plus they were refurbished and hush-kitted recently which could keep them here a while. They have already retired some (if not all) of their DC-9-10s. 717 wouldn't ...Jump to post
EMB-120 (my all-time fav. turboprop)
757-200 (medium haul, but i don't care, its still my fav. twin jet)
I also sort of like the:
Canadair Regional Jet
Dornier 328 (turboprop, ive haven't been on the jet... yet!)
I agree with Chepos- MCO is almost at the attractions, while Sanford is in the middle of nowhere.
Other than International charters, Aeropostal, and Pan Am, are there any scheduled carriers that go into Sanford that don't go into MCO?
