Let me tell you about what this has done for my dad and I. I've always been on good terms with my dad, but he is a busy guy, always has been. He loves his work. As a child he used to take me with him to LAX to shoot pictures. Right after September 11th I discovered Airliners.net, and started to reme...Jump to post
Why do some reviewers ALWAYS kick my stuff out to Johan? Thankfully HE (and all the others who have emailed me lately) appreciates shots other than digital stuff taken yesterday. Perhaps next time you are out at your favorite airport maybe you can grab a shot of a Convair 880 or Delta 747. Good luck...Jump to post
I am hoping to get some info on what type of digital cameras people are using to successfully get photos into the airliners.net database. This past Xmas I purchased a Nikon 775 (2.1 million pixel camera) but since then I have rediscovered my love of taking aviation photos. 2.1 million pixels just is...Jump to post
What is the process for uploading a new scan of a photo already in the database? Does the photo go through the approval process again? Is the photoG notified once the new picture is uploaded? Johan approved some of my earlier scans from my dads collection, which I did at 1600 x 1200, I would like to...Jump to post
No, I am not making this up, I came across it in today's Seattle Times. The plan, which still must be approved by the Senate, would pay for and convert a single 767 widebody jet into a new type of fighter called MC2A — military shorthand for "multi-sensor command and control aircraft." Is this...Jump to post
the east side of the north runway @ LAX. Not sure how many runways they have now but in '78 there was a north, and a south. North was used by most of the Int'l and heavy domestic flights. It was a rental car lot that never had any cars in it <img src="/discussions/graphics/smile.gif" ALT="Smil...Jump to post
Wanted to know what you guys (and gals) think. They are 1600 x 1200, so you if you are on dial-up you might not want to look. They are a Transair 707, a Trans International DC-10, a CP Air 737, a Hughes Airwest DC-9, and a Hughes Airwest 727. <a href="http://www.airliners.net/addphotos/big/ready/tra...Jump to post
I am currently working on the first batch of scans I had done from my dads collection. They were scanned @ 600 dpi at a print size of 8 x 12, for a pixel size of 3500 x 2400. Is 1600 x 1200 the final size I should be aiming for? I know 1600 is the biggest dimension...is bigger better?
Do the screeners apply the same standards to images that are 30 years old as they do to something taken with current technology? The database only shows 6,300 pictures taken from 1970-1979, while there are 213,000 taken from 1990-Current. Do people come here for current stuff, or history? For the re...Jump to post
I would like to get some feedback from the forum. I recently went through my first batch of slides from my dad's collection, with the goal of scanning them and sharing them through airliners.net I have picked the first batch, 30 slides, and I am sending them off to be scanned on a "Frontier" system,...Jump to post

one more thing, about ETOPS, isn't ETOPS certification down to maintenance profiles?

my dad has a large collection of slides he took from the 60's-late 80's that I would like to go through, picking out certain images to be scanned...they are in 35mm slide format. Can anyone recommend a place to have them scanned? I don't mind sending them off, as long as they do good work.
