Derelict Swissair MD-11 At JNB

She's parked outside on of SAA's hangars,I saw the jet last week as we departed from 03L..didn't get any reg but it looked as if it was stranded there since last year.Sad indeed,anyone know the future for this particular MD?

Did you also know that SAS wanted Mc Donnell Douglas to build the 717?? or at that time it was named the MD-95. They even wanted to be launch customer and then suddenly they dropped out of it. Why did AF change their order from the ER version to the standard??

Incredible..I think it's time for Iberia to get some new 747s...Nice with a bunch of 747-400QXLR....! Well one can only dream about that!

CPH-BKK-SIN in april this year on a SAS 340 in business, I had a few cocktails some dinner and after that I woke up when it was time for breakfast before landing in Bangkok.So it went quite smooth...flying time was 10+ hrs and the SIN-BKK leg 2 hrs. Finnair domestic between Vaasa (VAA) and Kokkola (KOK) is ~100 km
and the flying time is 15 min. they fly this with an MD83.

The airport is facing charges for the loss of lives and aircraft because of the inoperative ground radar they acquired ages ago from Norway but never installed for some reason.At first they tried to blame the Cessna pilot for the crash but they failed and the true reason came out from the fog..

Last summer: VAA-ARN-CPH-LHR / LHR-AMS-FRA-VIE / VIE-FRA-ARN-CDG
all within 24 hrs........included F50,MD90,A321,B777 imagine...
The B777 was a Varig service between CPH-LHR as it continues to Rio from LHR.

Well there is an explanation, the A340-200 and 300 series has a poorer climb performance than for example the 500 and 600 series.This is due to the low thrust from the engines.So they need more time to gain altitude. But keep in mind that it doesn't make the A340 unsafe to travel on  <img src="...

I can't even remember if Finnair ever flew to Chicago?? In the 80s maybe or earlier,they haven't got any other American routes than New York in their regular network.I believe when the time comes for the MD11 to retire from the Finnair fleet which won't happen in this decade,they will go Airbus almo...

The 767 is a comfortable airplane and the SAS variants are from early nineties so they aren't too old and the cabin layout is good too so I believe they will hold on to them until they find the times good enough to convert the options for more 333s and 343s,btw how many options do they have?

According to sasflightops the first 330 should arrive this month,It is much possible that they arrive later than that because they haven't updated the arrival info for a long time.October could be more accurate.
