I currently live in Trinidad and I hold a Trinidad &Tobago CPL. My base license is a Canadian CPL. I have 500 hours. I'm planning on visiting London later this year and wanted to go flying, privately in a 4 seater single engine plane, preferably a C172. what would I need to do? who would I need to c...Jump to post

SlamClick, Seeing as we still follow some older british based regulations during our training in the caribbean, even at the sim in toronto, I wouldn't doubt that a new regulation exists that allows you to descend through your own airway. but with the new RVSM regs in effect, it might be twice as pos...Jump to post
On the Dash8, engage autopilot if it isn't already on, don oxygen masks and initiate an emergency descent.
simultaneously, turn 45degrees off course for 1 minute, then turn back to original heading to parallel the airway.
declare and emergency and descend to 14,000' or 10,000' if available.
I'm also going to buy a Dell laptop online on friday when I clear my credit card. Since I live in Trinidad, I have to buy thru the Dell Latin America website which means we don't get all the latest bells and whistles as the US with respect to prices. I've configured a 1.8 Centrino, 512MB mem, 40GB <...Jump to post
I want to buy a laptop. Dell seems to be the cheapest of the bunch so I'll probably go in that direction. My main use of this laptop is for internet access internationally. Here in my country, the wireless internet uses the GPRS system and I have to connect to the internet using my GSM cell phone as...Jump to post
so there are about 100 people at the Paranormal seminar. the main speaker begins to ask the gathering... "how many of you believe in ghosts?" All raise their hands. "how many of you have seen a ghost?" Half the group raise their hands. "how many of you have interacted with a ghost, you know, contact...Jump to post
be careful with those dots though. If I sit according to black blocking white on the dash8, my seat ends up too high and I flare high. I usually adjust the seat to one "click" below the dot, meaning the black dot blocks out just the top 3/4 of the white. the dash8 doesn't fly in a recognisable nose ...Jump to post
Well done Rick!! congrats from the caribbean !!! I remember getting advice from you in the past, although I can't remember what it was for now, haha... but all the best, and even sweeter under 30. maybe this was said before, but didn't see it... "Airbus A380 (fill in your own reg), you are #2 to Boeing 777 for the approach, advise traffic in sight" "Airbus A380, #2, and we have the light twin in sight" :p having said that though, the B777 is still my favourite current commercial plane <...Jump to post
Here in the caribbean, we have two "seasons". Wet and Dry. it doesn't get any simpler than that. theoretically, Wet is from June/July to the end of November. and Dry is from December to June. used to be like that on the mark years ago, but lately the world's weather pattern seems to be changing. It'...Jump to post
"Worst case scenario is an operation to place a grommit in the ear drum." I used to have this problem often, ear infections at least once a year or two years. I've had both. when I was on cessna's and barons, I used the DC H10-13.4S with the gel pads. Excellent reception and quality. can really take a knocking around the cockpit. But on long flights, wearing a sunglasses, the pads tend to press the shades frame into my head, and the weight becomes unbeara...Jump to post
splash8 pilot here, F/O though, so I'm not allowed to taxi.
not sure if it's a Bombardier operating procedure, but at my company, once the control locks are engaged, the F/O does not operate the rudders while taxiing.
the nose wheel is one of the weakest points in this sweet airplane.
well, here in the caribbean..... tee hee :p I lived Canada a while back, both in Toronto and Winnipeg. to be quite honest, I would trade the heat any day for the cold. when it's too hot and humid, you feel like you are stuffed up, can't breathe, your clothes stick to your skin and the sun burns you....Jump to post

M isn't getting much support in this thread. poor thing. shame, because I think it's fantastic. quite a physical improvement from the last model and a more sleek, aggressive stance. Having read this thread, I'd just like to briefly defend "Love Actually". man, you guys aim high... I love float planes, but I prefer the smaller ones. A Cessna 206 with the turbine conversion on floats is the deal for me. Hey all, for the last year or more, I've been helping promote Frolov's Dash8-Q300 for people who wanted a nice, realistic, free addon. hey Warren, lately they've been using the 738 between the islands. our gubment is trying to promote Tobago as a direct link island, so some flights from the states and toronto go to tobago first (usually with a stop in barbados first), then on to trinidad. here in the Caribbean, regional airlines prefer Turboprops over RJs because of the shorter take off distance. a lot of runways here are around 4000' and usually end with a drop or large obstruction. To be more exact, the tried and tested Dash8-300 is the definitive turboprop in this area. A couple o...Jump to post
Yes BWIA had an unsuccessful stint a while back with routes to Brazil.
