So in the press release from the lounge developer http://www.prnewswire.com/news-releases/airport-lounge-development-grows-lounge-network-to-seventeen-with-the-addition-of-the-club-at-pittsburgh-international-airport-300471958.html It looks like they are opening a temporary space this week between C...Jump to post
Conversely, though, for the first time in living memory come the September schedule, AA will be majority mainline on PIT-ORD, running 3x 738s. That's a big shift from even last year. This is just my observation and could be wrong. I've flown on the e175s they have on the PIT-ORD route a few times a...Jump to post
Per the OAG Changes 6/4/2017. AA is cutting the PIT-BOS frequency in half. Not that much of a surprise with the amount of seats B6 is putting on that route. But still a sad reminder of AA's continued cuts in PIT.
The data provided was from seeking alpha and wiki among reputable sources. Nobody is taking either Boeing or Airbus's data because it is marketing nonsense. Look at the data provided. Who knows...you might learn something. Seeking Alpha? Reputable? Do you know what that site is for? I have two frie...Jump to post
BOS is a domestic hub. Only 5 intl destinations. The thread author didn't specify that we are only talking international hubs. But yes you are correct, currently it is not an international hub. Another possibility in the future, is some sort of midwest hub for AS or B6. Plenty of old hub airports w...Jump to post
BOS may be an interesting one, clearly Delta is comfortable going after smaller airlines like they are doing with SEA. Delta has already been calling BOS a hub for a few years now. They have also revealed their intentional to ramp up the amount of daily flights and destinations heavily to compete a...Jump to post
Speaking of the airshow... did anyone else see this about the diverted Southwest 737 at AGC? https://www.usatoday.com/story/travel/flights/todayinthesky/2017/05/16/southwest-737-diverts-because-pittsburgh-air-show/101746902/ The weird thing is they have a quote at the bottom from Maj. CVG is still a hub, Delta will either aggressively fight back against an invasion of Southwest and/or JetBlue as they aren't the typical LCC types and could steal more business passengers or dehub it. With DL switching to offense in BOS and B6 once again in ATL. Just because someplace is a hub does...Jump to post
Its crazy to think there was a time when if the NYC - BOS shuttle filled up, they would roll out another plane.
As much as overbooking is on everyone's minds right now...due to recent events. The most likely thing to happen is everything quiets down. And the US3 keep overbooking.
PIT seems to the logical next route for DL in the near term considering AA may sunset that route anytime soon (speculation). AA has continued to slash that routes frequency much to B6's delight. They keep adding more capacity to make up for the loss. In fact B6 said during a recent investors call, ...Jump to post
Finally, to continue dismissing JetBlue as a small airline basically is making the same error the legacy carriers did when JetBlue started, look how that went...I am sure DL's management doesn't dismiss them like you do. Exactly right. The very reason DL is now ramping up at BOS again, is because B...Jump to post
You ask a good question but I'll point out that not all of the airport pairs you cite are high frequency.
BOS-DTW is 3x today. ORD is 3x, PHL is 6x, PIT is 5x.
The one thing no one has addressed here is what would happen to B6's biz routes that are run currently with the E190. They are all high frequency so thus run with smaller planes. Would they just switch to A320's and hope they can sell the extra seats at the same frequency or would they be forced to ...Jump to post
Massport's Chief Executive Thomas Glynn said recently that the ORH flights were some of Jetblue's best performers in their network. I don't know why everyone acts like they are a total failure. "JetBlue is running two flights a day to Florida from Worcester and they’re almost always full. JetBl...Jump to post

Intel demoed the concept awhile back. Pretty cool. Check out how they do it.

I don't get the luxury of narrowbody AVOD planes very often, but when I do, it's not even close to 90% usage. I wonder if it's even 50%. I think the low usage of IFE that people describe is due more to the options being less than ideal. For example whenever I'm flying B6 with their free live tv I f...Jump to post
I flew DUB-PHL on an AA 757 a few months back. Bloody nightmare. Much of their international 757 fleet is still really outdated. I flew an AA 757 with no IFE BOS-CDG. It was borderline torture. I don't think it should matter if its widebody vs narrowbody. If you are flying it across the pond....you...Jump to post
It makes sense that BA would push back the A380 test if they were not fully ready on the lounge side of things. It matches their practicality. It doesn't make sense to send the A380 multiple times with out a full load for test purposes. They would be losing money unnecessarily. As far as we know EK ...Jump to post
Correct, although the E lounge would be a bit of a hike for people flying B6. Also the lounge in E only becomes a better option once they add the premium dining and the showers in the summer. I wonder if they will keep the entrance cost the same after the additional amenities are added. At least rig...Jump to post

Valid point but what would be the bottleneck? Security checkpoints or not enough gates/terminal space? I personally have never experienced huge crowds at Logan. BOS is an airport built on reclaimed land. AS continued growth has pushed the airports to its limits, is infill a possible solution to further growth? That's not really necessary. It hasn't been officially announced by the airport yet. But Pittsburgh is adding a new international route from WW, direct to KEF.

The official announcement should come at a press conference today at 10am. YEAH!!!
Here is a video of it happening to a Delta 737-900 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JLWxD0gY__A According to United they are going to be deploying a "tail stand" device to airports in January in order to fix this issue.
