Re: Ryanair starting FRA? Will the empire strike back?

The day Air Berlin collapses, money-conscious Germans will need more budget flights to take them to their beloved Mallorca. Nothing surprising here. Yes, I earlier reported they have already retired their last owned 737-800 due to collapses. The last remaining 15 737 is only leased from TUI until 2...

Re: What went wrong for BA at LGW

The other thing I know about their LGW hub is to increase capacity on both short haul and long haul aircraft and charging food and drinks from January 2017. This comes out the same way like the LHR hub does. Your not really making any contribution to this discussion regarding BA/BCAL/Caledonian at ...

Re: Hainan Airlines to London Gatwick?

Tianjin Airlines an airline owned by Hainan Airlines currently fly from LGW to Chongqing and Tianjin with Airbus 330 so other than the CX flight to HKG LGW actually has three destinations in China.

Re: Was Britsh Airtours briefly renamed BRITISH CALEDONIAN?

As lofty points out it would have been a BA flight operated by Caledonian Airways KT as Caledonian operated several routes to the Caribbean on behalf of BA from 1995 to 1997 using their DC-10-30 aircraft of which a total of five were operated by KT from 1993 to 1998 although not all in the fleet at ...

Re: Was Britsh Airtours briefly renamed BRITISH CALEDONIAN?

Going to give this one a try. Seems like there are a lot of BCal geeks here! Now - back in about '97 I was so lucky to fly LGW-ANU, then ANU-GND-LGW (was for work!). Was a Caledonian DC-10, can't remember reg. Anyway, on the IFE, if you can call it that, was a promo & safety video which had a g...

Your find that most of the Portuguese workers in Jersey originate from Madiera, Jersey was a very popular place for Madeirans to move to in the 1980s and 90s.

Re: TAP to launch 11 new routes in 2017

I agree with all the options, so maybe I can give a little more. Europe- Athens, Zagreb, Palma de Mallorca, Manchester, Dublin, Istanbul and Budapest. Africa- Abidjan, Bamako/Lome and Tunis N.America- Washington/Chicago in US while Toronto/Montreal in Canada TAP have been serving Manchester for the...

Re: Was Britsh Airtours briefly renamed BRITISH CALEDONIAN?

BA bought BR not KT, KT was the IATA code for British Airtours which was renamed Caledonian after the purchase of BR in 1988 and took on the KT code, BR was the code for British Caledonian but it was no longer in use after the UK-Nigeria bilaterals were changed to allow BA to fly to LOS in November ...
