Re: AA (Republic) E175 Severe Control Problems at ATL last night

At one point one of the pilots seemed a little sacred when the a/c wouldn't descend. The Controller was really nasty the Fire Chief that called for information on the flight. He wasn’t nasty, he needed to have the frequency cleared for the issue at hand. He was nasty, as is the case with most ATC i...

The question is, is a look at the 737NG really needed. Sales of that frame have ended. It has a good safety record, though one could find quite a few things wrong with it. there have been a few 737NG disasters with a trim context but as far as there are no more of them coming up, it would probably ...

For the Lion air case: the question is why did they stop trimming nose up? there are 2 possibilities: 1. they did not know how. 2. the electric trim drive motor failed. There are signs of intermittent trim action just before the final moments. This could open up another can of worms. What was the d...

I think this is a bit undeserved, and I'll bring these points out from the report: * The FO was more...

If both hydraulic systems fail on the 737, you can fly it in a manual reversion mode. That is a misunderstanding of the A320 trim system. Those wheels are not connected by cables, or by any physical means, to the horizontal stabilizer. Generic triage is a great idea - something happens that you don't understand - turn off all the automation or the system that is acting up and fly the plane - we need the big red button. I have always believed the 737 has a severely flawed and poorly set up crew alerting system, even for a piece of 1960s engineering.
