Flybe has improved things a little, but other than that, Sheffield and its South Yorkshire conurbation (roughly 1.2 million people) has been stuck with either holiday flights to the Med or a handful of crappy LCC flights to Eastern Europe. DSA has one of (if not the) longest runway at a commercial a...Jump to post
Currently sitting at DEN after my AA flight to DFW (scheduled for 10:48) was cancelled due to a faulty engine. AA staff were responsive and professional. I lucked out with a seat on the 16:39 departure. Not sure many of my fellow passengers were so lucky. It was a completely full A321 that had to be...Jump to post
I flew with 6 airlines that are no longer with us. Handful of flights with: NWA Dan Air London Varig One return trip each with: Malev U.S. Continental And (NWA aside) I’m really struggling to remember much about any of them. I did like NWA’s seat back entertainment. And I certainly liked their price...Jump to post
Icelandair. Emirates (Jfk-msp) Air India (Ewr-Lhr) Does Ethiopian still fly from the east coast to Dublin? Ethiopian's flights from the east coast to Addis are non-stop. Not just passenger lists these days. At some airports (I’ve had this at DTW), Immigration used facial recognition to identify passengers as they board flights to leave the country. If you are a U.S. citizen, the government claims your image will be deleted within 24 hours. If you are a foreign natio...Jump to post
Love the 747 as a concept.
But the reality on recent economy flights (BA & Lufthansa) was awful. Cramped. Hot.
As an economy passenger, give me a 767 any day.

Does LHR have a Delta lounge?
I know it has both United and American lounges.
Flew in and out of JAX for the first time earlier this year and I was very impressed. Lovely airport from the passenger perspective. Short TSA lines, plenty of food options, concourses not too busy or cramped. The shelf style sinks in the restrooms were weird, but apart from that I’d be happy to uti...Jump to post
Depends on how much I value the seat. If I’ve paid to reserve it (like the $112 I recently paid BA to reserve an exit row seat), I’ll definitely ask the other passenger to move.
If I haven’t paid to reserve and it’s a crappy middle seat I won’t care.
I would also add you better believe in the USA’s free market economic system.
Over a decade for me. Two flights in 2008:
MD-83. Avianca. Cartagena - Miami
MD-88. Delta. Atlanta - Miami
I have little recollection of either flight. Aside from seeing a pregnant Samantha Bee flying on the MD-88.
I may have voted for DTW earlier in the thread, but I connected there again last week and I found the train in the McNamara Terminal was out of service. It’s not so great an airport when you are rushing with bags down that giant mile long concourse.Jump to post

With regard to Air Serbia, there’s massive competition on routes between Europe and the U.S. - which could lead to airlines adopting any (perceived) advantage they can.
Between the U.S. and Australia/NZ there’s far less competition, so possibly less incentive to sign up.
Go to ''Manage my bookings'' on the airlines website and change your seats yourself, there might be charge for this but it's doable. If he’s basic economy is that only doable within 48 hours of the flight? By which point the flights may be heavily sold with aisle and window seats taken. Hence his q...Jump to post

There are 350 Boeing 737 MAX delivered as of January 31, 2019. Even if this crash is MCAS related, grounding the fleet will be a difficult decision for the FAA. There is a procedure how to recover the aircraft from the MCAS fault, not to mention the huge inconvenience the grounding would cause to t...Jump to post
When I worked at MAN someone pitched naming the airport in honour of Alan Turing, I thought it was a good idea! Are any airports in the UK named after a person ? Someone has already mentioned John Lennon. In addition, Doncaster-Sheffield was named after Robin Hood until 2016. Of course that leads t...Jump to post
DEN is my local airport so I’ve never connected there. But I have to imagine it would be one of the best. Lucky that Denver is a major hub, so connecting is rare for me, but I have connected at: IAH, MIA, ATL, BWI, ORD, DTW, YYZ, FRA, ORY, CDG, BOM, and SVO. DTW wins hands down. Love connecting ther...Jump to post

As a rule of thumb, I book my flights at least a month or two in advance. Given that, I have never been “assigned” a center seat by any airline. I have however had a center seat on Southwest by virtue of all window and aisle seats being taken by the time my position boarded. Given that I’d booked a ...Jump to post
I grew up near Endcliffe Park (went to Junior School at Hunters Bar). It’s interesting. The story that the plane was trying to avoid the children was always dismissed as romantic folklaw. The general consensus was the pilot was just trying to avoid the dense housing. Either way the pilot and crew we...Jump to post
It's also worth remembering that not all rail connections are created equal. For some, the level of service on the rail line stinks. For others, the connection to and from the airport stinks. And some (like, say, FLL) both are bad (shuttle bus to an infrequent rail line). The best airport/transit l...Jump to post
