Operationally, Terminal 1 is a zoo and would make more sense to move on over to Terminal 8. I suppose once IG inches closer to OW membership, it would give them more of a justified reason to switch terminals.
Jump to postI tried the usual googling the article trick but it seems to not be working for me. Can anybody copy and paste the article?
Jump to postI wonder if and when IG will be moving over to Terminal 8 at JFK.

What happend to AT joining an alliance? Wasnt QR going to sponsor them into OneWorld?
Jump to postThe problem with BA slot restrictions at LHR is that for expansion to the USA they require multiple slots since they are sending a/c to multiple airports, now if they were to upgrade their JFK terminal they could consolidate a number of their frequencies into A380's and allow their JV partner AA to...
Jump to postI think it would be best to apply the experience the OP he/she has towards an airline. CLA at LHR is hiring and no prior experience is necessary: https://www.indeed.co.uk/viewjob?jk=fa02991181ecc1fb&from=serp&vjs=3 Panalpina also has an apprenticeship program. It may not be an airline but it...
Jump to postI know LH has their IAP programme which encompasses gaining experience across all business units within LH. Whilst attending the IAP program, you will be sent to an LH outstation to gain hands on experience in PAX and Cargo handling along with sales processes. If you have already graduated from univ...

If QR wasnt hurting right now, this would give them more of a reason to up their stake in CX.
Jump to postWho is really left at Terminal 7? Let me know if I am missing anyone: QR704 (Qatar’s Morning Flight) IAG ANA LOT Polish Aerolinas Argentinas Icelandair Ukraine International Alaskan/Virgin America Granted that CX and QF left for Terminal 8, Terminal 7 is still relatively busy. I think the Qatar morn...
Jump to postI am surprised the medium turn plan did not include their return to freighter market.
Jump to postCan someone draft up a livery for the freighter? Curious to see what it would look like.
Jump to postI know JL will be seeking maindeck uplift via ACMI with the likes of Atlas to provide said lift.
Jump to postBoth JL and NH see the surge in demand for maindeck cargo once the olympics kicks into full swing. Rather doubt that they're giving much regard to the logistics of a 2wk sporting period, when planning their 20yr+ fleet needs... Both companies see the olympics as the starting point for the surge in ...

Jump to postQR ususally blocks seats on the 787 for a ULH mission so the crew can rest accordingly.
Jump to postAkbar mentioned that they will not be code sharing on the USA-EU-USA sectors. I wonder if the recent bilateral talks between USA and Qatar have anything to do with it. From what I remember, Qatar promised no fifth freedom flights from USA origin for their PAX services. But what is stopping from impl...
Jump to postYea, can't say I understand this either. So all of a sudden QR is going to be audited to international standards and that's suddenly going to equate to DL's success in that market? And so what if it is proven QR is receiving subsidy? Not like U.S. carriers haven't. I just don't understand how U.S. ...
Jump to postArion640 wrote:Sooner787 wrote:Where does QR plan on deploying the new A35J's to once the crew fam flights are done?
I expect Heathrow will be in there somewhere.
Correct me if I am wrong but will QR take an additional 748F frame?
Jump to postYeah I agree, always wanted to know what goes on, on those long haul freighter flights, how they are catered for and so on, hope there can be a dedicated cargo thread on a.net. Does Air France still have a dedicated cargo operation? AF still operates their 777F and KLM still operates their 747F fro...
Jump to postI wonder if QR will ever persue in ordering more frames. As the last frame will be completed shortly.
Jump to postInditiex traffic is all BSAs. 1 airwaybill can occupy the entire flight as it will comprise of 27 main decks on 777F. I think on 748F, it might be 30; I could be wrong.
Jump to postCargo catering is always good - always too much, and the ’groundies’ usually have a feast on arrival from leftovers. Is the 748F the same config? I know 777F has 4 supernary generic business class seats and 2 jump seats. If its a 777F configured for a horse charter operation, you can fit up to 9 ec...
Jump to postUPS and Fedex have very nice catering. Several choices they can order in advance, as well as coolers full of drinks and a coffee maker. Some of the other carriers like Atlas need to be more creative since they fly to a lot of far flung places. Sometimes they will arrange local hotels or restaurants...
Jump to postI thought QR only has 2-3 freighters left on the 777 backlog. Would 33 freighters even remain sustainable? Unless QR is looking to expand their BSA agreement with other oneworld airlines i.e JAL.
Jump to postI think QR and EK are in big trouble once TK’s new hub is operational with the addition of their 777F fleet.
Jump to postGranted there is an upswing in demand. Airlines and their handling agents need to take in consideration of the load factor.

QR is utilising the 748 for the FRA-DOH-HKG-DOH-FRA route. I am assuming this is for their top 5 customers i.e Schenker, DHL, JAS, etc.

Sorry, thread drift, but seeing as we are gradulating the queen, how did Qatar get theirs so quick, I completely missed that? Obviously the (political) issues they are facing with the neighbours since last year contributed, but it seems to me like they magically appeared out of nowhere. I was not a...
Jump to postQR only utilises their 5th freedom rights for their cargo operation ex USA. I wonder if their new agreement will affect their cargo operation. I remember a while back that QR was interested in starting JFK-ATH-DOH. There was quite alot of fanfare but that slowly fizzled and died.
Jump to postAFKL cargo right now is a fraction of its former self. In terms of freighter fleet size, KLM cargo has 3 744F (as per wiki) and 9 744 combi. I think one of the major reasons why they are shrinking is due to the overcapacity.
Jump to postYep, in fact it's far higher. LHR to JFK is the biggest EU to US route and 2nd largest EU to non EU route, only behind LHR - DXB Maybe, if BA changed certain strategies and had more/bigger LH aircraft LHRDXB would be number 2 or even lower as most of the LHRDXB traffic is going on to XXX. More like...
Jump to postThey would need to hire a lot of pilots before they can expand as JL has a pilot shortage.
Jump to postAs per the article, JAL is facing a pilot shortage and there are not enough pilots to supplement a freighter fleet at the moment. Hopefully things will change as we get closer to 2020. Any guesses on what JAL would operate for their freighter fleet? Mine would be A330F or a converted 767F. I do not ...
Jump to postSource: http://www.asiacargonews.com/en/news/detail?id=2313 Really looking forward to seeing JAL re-enter the freighter market once again. Granted its going to be on a ACMI basis. Overall, its a strong growth indicator for surplus uplift as the demand into Japan will continue for the next olympics.

Jump to postI have a feeling QR will start this route again after EK does since QR has a “me too mentality” when it comes to their route planning. They tend to follow EK alot.
Jump to postMaybe Proctor and Gamble sells a lot of products in Asia. Maybe they MAKE a lot of products in Asia, and ship them to CVG. I think the two biggest reasons why CVG has so much capacity are DHL and Amazon. Both now operate express hubs out of CVG. That's not to say that SQ's freight goes directly to ...
Jump to postThey have 36 gates in t8. Concourse c is really large. I never got the sense flying out of t8 that they couldn't fit in more flights. Regarding T7, keep in mind that B6 has asked for proposals to build a new T6 and, potentially, integrate T7 in such proposals. I think we'll hear more about this over the next few months. If AA really is downgrading its presence maybe there will be room for BA at T8 at some point. Do you know if B6...

Jump to postWould it be worth IAG’s while to utilise Niki’s DUS and TXL slots for a Level transatlantic operation?
Jump to postYes there is no doubt it will. They currently haul over 700 tonnes a month out of PER. In comparison EK hauls not much more and that’s with 2 daily flights. A lot of the cargo that goes out of PER is fresh food, there is normally 4 pallets of meat as well which comes from MEL, perhaps that will get...
