Spotting In Northeast

I was wondering what airports, if any, around the Northeast are still somewhat ok to spot at. I went to JFK once since everything and got harrassed and have not bothered tryng anywhere else. Are there any places at these airports that are still good to spot at or are there areas around any airports ...

JFK Question

I was at JFK about 2 weeks ago to do some spotting and I gave the Customs parking lot a try. It was a Sunday (the day that people used to not be harrassed for parking there). Anyway I got chased away, but never bothered to go over to the Delta terminal (2,3) because I figured the new rules said that...

Runways And The ---->'s

Ok, what is the reason that some runways are built with huge run ups i.e. JFK 13R/31L so that when planes take off they use the whole runway but when they land they touch down real far down? I assume that the area of the runway that has just the arrows ---> is not as reinforced as the rest of the ru...

Airlines Using Every Boeing And Airbus

I was just looking at pictures of the new Air France A330 and was thinking to myself that Air France is one airline that has operated almost every Boeing and every Airbus type now. With the exception of the 717, which isn't really a Boeing plane IMHO. AF has used 707's 727's, 37's 47's 57's 67's and...

RE: Who Has Been On A Plane That Later Chrashed?

I flew on the United 767 200 N612UA that crashed into the Trade Center. I flew it on August 1, 2001 from IAD-SFO and sat in seat 1B. It was so creepy when I found out it was that plane because I was able to picture what it had looked like just 41 days earlier and could not imagine what it must have ...

RE: Sleeper Seats On 767´s?

Yeah, not having the sleeper on 767's really stinks. I flew UA JFK-EZE-ORD over the summer in first class and man did that suck. Whats the point of going first when business has the same seat. The first seat was a few inches wider which doesn't really even matter. When UA and others are flying route...

RE: Who Flies First Class?

I have flown first class about 50 times as oppossed to about 20 trips in economy. I always have found ways to get there, whether using miles to purchase first class seats or being that I used to work for United, it was never that hard to fly first as long as you picked the right flight.

I remember a site that had pictures of airliners that had been doctored so that airlines that didn't have certain airliners were pictured, i.e. a United MD 80 or a Alialia 777. Does anyone know the site, I want to check it out again.

RE: UA ORD-DUS Cancelled! New: IAD-DUS!

I wonder about Brussels upgrading to the 777. Over the summer when Sabena was around, I was working on the ramp for UA at IAD and our Brussels flight would just fill up for the '67. I guess since BRU is almost always business with the EU rather than tourism maybe it is not affected by 9/11 but I won...

Ok, now that there is no more TWA and everything operates as AA, does that mean that every terminal that TWA was in or gate is had is now empty and everything is operating out of AA gates or are the AA planes just using TWA old gates and terminal areas etc? Also is all TWA signage gone, things like ...

747 At LGA

Ok, I know that 747 300's serve SXM regularly and that runway is about 7000 feet long. Does this mean that a 747 300 or 747 400 could land and take off from LGA safely? With the elevation and temp, etc. there can they operate there? (I know they wouldn't but is it possible) What about 747 200's? And...

RE: Most Confusing Iata Airport Code?

Dulles was either a general or some secretary in gov't back in I think the 1950's. Not sure if right time frame or if exactly a general but thats the basic idea. There has been talk on a off for awhile that they might rename the airport Eisenhower because apparantly Dulles was a racist ass.

Current Spotting At JFK

I was last spotting at JFK on 9/9 and was at the most popular spot, the US Customs parking lot on the side of 13L/31R. Even before 9/11 this was one of the only spots you could go and not be harrassed and even there I had been chased away before. What I am wondering now though is, is there anyplace ...

You can't forget landing at LGA when you land on 22. You fly right down the East River and right by the skyline. It is really cool. Also the DCA approach over the Potomac is great.

IAD does not get A300 passenger service or MD11 service although that is not that big a deal. I always thought it was interesting that IAD which doesn't have a huge selection of airlines or flights still gets everything else. 717's from Air Tran, sometimes TWA; 727's from DL, AA, UA (until this week...

UA also cut a lot of flights out of IAD. There is no more IAD-LGA on mainline operations. Also cut frequencies on IAD-ORD, LAX, DEN, SEA, LAS, MIA, BOS, ATL, BDL, DFW, LHR, CDG, MSY, PDX, SFO, and TPA. Some of this is obviously Sept. 11, and some just seasonal stuff, but still isn't cool seeing the ...
