With the Chinese carriers routinely offering sub 600 (even 500) fares to PVG, and they discount business class too, DL has to heavily rely on its US based FF members to fly DL for miles/upgrades. Perhaps fuel economy considerations? LHR-SEA is shorter than SFO and LAX and VS seems to be keeping the A346s to shorter sectors like JFK and ATL. They said as much in their last annual report.

Nice to see more international flights and AC back at SMF. The SMF-YVR flight arrives at 1:57pm but it looks, at least right now, like the AC flights to East Asia all leave between 11:00am and 1:00pm so, unless I'm missing something, the timing doesn't really work for those connections.
