Re: PIT Update Discussion Thread - 2018

If WN couldn't make PIT-PHL work against AA, then I can't see NK making that work. Do you guys really think WN couldn’t make a 2x daily PIT-PHL flight work? I think times have changed and people realize the price gouging that AA does, plus I’d say WN is in a far better place now, than when they can...

Re: PIT Update Discussion Thread - 2018

I don't think this has been mentioned yet, but PIT-DFW on NK appears to be getting axed for good. No longer bookable after September 5th and Wiki indicates that it is being cut. How about NK adds service to places like New York and/or Philly? I'd love the return of affordable flights east. WN? Anyo...

Re: BA announces PIT-LHR

God this is amazing! I honestly did not think this would happen in my lifetime! But very glad nonetheless. I just wonder if BA will keep it after the two year subsidy ends. Any thoughts? Yes, it is amazing! The subsidies are merely a way for an airport and community (Pittsburgh in this case) to tak...

Re: PIT Update Discussion Thread - 2018

All very exciting about BA!! One not surprised by Wednesday’s announcement was Mr. Boyd. He said British Airways has been turning to secondary markets more and more to feed its Heathrow hub. He sees the Pittsburgh service as part of that trend. Wasn't he the one always saying something to the effect...

Re: PIT Update Discussion Thread - 2018

The moving escalators are so long they block passengers from moving across the concourse. They would have to walk down and around the walkways just to get to a gate on the other side. It's easier to give the airlines a single side of the concourse so WN passengers or gate agents can stay to the lef...

Re: PIT Update Discussion Thread - 2018

Seems odd to me to have one airliine's gates on the even side of a concourse and another airline on the odd side. Wouldn't it make more sense to have for instance, SW A1-A6 and United A7-A10 or whatever?

Re: PIT Update Discussion Thread - 2018

Some great international flight deals still to be had this summer from PIT. Delta/Condor non-stops to CDG/FRA respectively coming in at under $700 RT for Aug & Sept.

And just a week out, Condor's OW fares to FRA were still around $400-$500! Their prices seem to get cheaper as the season goes on.

Re: PIT Update Discussion Thread - 2018

Why is it that the departing flights to Europe rarely ever depart on-time? Tonight, Delta departed 10 minutes late (actually not that bad, but previously it's been worse) despite landing 45 minutes early. Wow was supposed to depart at 6:45pm and even the departures boards inside the terminal said t...

Re: PIT Update Discussion Thread - 2018

PIT/IND battle to the cheapest depending on day of week. PIT is the only airfare south of $1000, on Tuesday to Tuesday. On weekends IND is cheaper (but still pricier than during the week), during the week PIT is the cheapest. I found this really interesting as well. As I was booking a flight to a s...

Re: PIT Update Discussion Thread - 2018

DEN has always been 2x daily I think. IINM I do remember one of those flights sometimes being on a 752 before the merger with CO. I took a UA 752 to DEN in Oct 2009. SFO was also a 752 a few summers after that. IIRC DEN was two mainline and one regional jet for 3x daily flights before WN/F9 joined ...

I wish they would start some service to NYC. I am so angered at the fact that our only option is Delta and AA (considering UA is EWR). The main cost factor is that little PIT-NYC segment.... Frontier Airlines... So far DEN returns at 3x weekly. LAS does not return and MCO gets the axe. So next summer F9 at PIT will be a total of 3 weekly flights...they just have no mojo here. This will be interesting to see what happens. My guess is they are using PIT as a test, and if successful, they will expand to other cities that are not major hubs. Cities like IND, BUF, ABQ... Supposedly, this is more of something the PIT people wanted to do and not a TSA thing, but perhaps when o...
