I am from Pune and have had the opportunity to be both on domestic and international flights, blessedly quite a few times. I *think* they do it because they feel they look more/better professional when speaking in such an accent. Maybe it's something to do with flight school, something that the air...Jump to post
Slightly OT but FWIW, I have always found Indian flight attendants off-putting due to their always using or trying to use Americanized English accent rather than Indian English . At least on domestic short-haul flights they could do away with the 'phony accents' . Never on my flights with 6E. All t...Jump to post
Had India been so irrelevant for DL, they wouldn't have launched campaign against ME3 , wouldn't have codeshared with 9W at the first place because they already have AF KL . Foreign investment is not a solution. That's why DL quietly walked away. Working capital issue needs to be solved and a one ti...Jump to post
UK is which airlines , British Airways ? The same issue with I5 , which airways ? I tried looking up https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_airline_codes but couldn't find the airline code for either of them :( UK = Vistara I5 = Air Asia India Could somebody elaborate on what investigation issues su...Jump to post
Review: SPICEJET 737- FILTHY, CHAOTIC, TERRIBLE! Josh Cahill has rated SG as the world's worst LCC in his recent video. Link to youtube video: https://youtu.be/u-TEeGmdZ5Q This despite SG having all the amenities I wrote about below. I doubt Cahill has ever flown Ryanair in his life; they deserve t...Jump to post
Looks like AI quietly cancelled the AI105 BOM-JFK service all together. Didn't fly today, no scheduled flights showing up later on. This flight is no longer in booking engine. I noticed that as well. Shocker from my pov. AI heard Delta might start so bam they start. The VFR crowd to BOM lives aroun...Jump to post
Not that it will faze UK much. UK isn't launching the route to serve the category of fliers who have come to love the bully. This myth has destroyed the financial condition of 3 FSCs in the past. How much ever premium you try to be, for less than four hour flights, you have to compete with LCCs bec...Jump to post

India uses an 6th grade logic for applying flight rules. The Ethiopian captain had 800 hrs, so India raises the minimum to 1,000. India has to show they are doing something even though the steps taken are rudimentary. There is no evidence to prove if the Ethiopian captain had 1000 hours, he would h...Jump to post
Well congratulations IndiGo !
A review by a blogger on 2 Indian LCCs . (6E and SG )
6:49 and 6:54 really made me scared !
And as IndiGo announced more flights to IST, TK adds a widebody to MAN. I guess the UK is the market both airlines aim to serve. Has indigo codeshared on TK's flights? If that's so then how will they compete with existing non LHR India-UK non stops? You already have ATQ/DEL- BHX on AI . And suppose...Jump to post
I could see VS/DL/AF/KL all desiring to have 6E as a codeshare partner for domestic feed. Considering that AI is ready to start 2 more routes to LHR, ST can code share with AI if there's no 9W . They'll shoot at their own foot if they place their code on 6E flights. FS codesharing with LCCs is not ...Jump to post
Philadelphia to India..?? I think only UPenn and PSU students would want to travel to India from that region And what about the ones with families there? Flying to JFK/ EWR and then driving might not be an option for all . The diaspora is good enough to sustain a flight . Plus the business IT traff...Jump to post
AA can in my opinion try PHL-DEL or an ORD-BOM
PHL is required as one stop connections are low for PHL - India .
ORD-BOM is also a highly under served route with strong O&D .
DFW / LAX India ,although an option ,is too long a route and yields will suffer .
Yes, seems like UA and EY playing nice has been announced. That leaves DL wondering if it's KLM strategy is sufficient. I must admit though the alliance flies from almost all major US cities to AMS. The real question is can it step-up flts to more Indian cities from AMS? UA has bet wisely. Thru its...Jump to post
Err, codeshare partners sell tickets and pay money. So you expect code share partners for an airline with nonexistent routes! Brilliant! The airline has 22 codeshare partners and many more interline partners. Most of them codeshare on their flights from DEL / BOM only. So it hardly matters to them ...Jump to post
There were quite a few media articles saying SBI was about to move the NCLT route to recover loans from jet . The airline's stocks fell 5% due to the same .
Today SBI confirmed that it was just a media speculation ! Yet another (failed) attempt by Indian media and lobbyists to damage the situation .
Even in India EU they will have a hard time as LHR is slot constrained so is AMS to some extent . They can partner with LH group at FRA , MUC, ZRH AMS is maxed out, 9W will be the first if any slot opens up. AI probably looking for 2 more LHR slots. I think UK should build up their domestic network...Jump to post
^I wonder if there's so much demand for 4 airlines to operate DEL-Tokyo : AI , JAL, ANA, and then also Vistara. It looks like Vistara will primarily be a India-EU carrier, with East Asia and further including West coast US being better served by it's parent airline SQ. Even in India EU they will ha...Jump to post
And monopoly is not good for any kind of industry. Talking about Telecom industry, well the old ones surviving till today are much much better than the current dominant one. Sorry, I don't agree. Talking about Telecom industry, well the old ones surviving till today are much much better than the current dominant one. Hell, what will happen if those remaining old providers close shop too!
I hope similar thing doesn't happen in aviation.
The post saying "EK explained US3 how costs are low.... " got deleted. Was that reported?
By the way the analogy was appropriate. But one thing to be noted. The main motto of the thread is to somehow justify that whole Indian aviation must be handed over to 6E !
Vistara announces the launch of 2x daily flights between Delhi and Raipur wef 31MAR19. Raipur is Vistara's 23rd destination. Even after that, the price used to be in the INR 3k+ range, whatever the base-price they may say (one-way), not exactly for the 'aam aadmi' I would say. I still see those flying in and out of BOM, to HYD and some other places I think.
The main "work " has already been done! Just signing is remaining to be honest. BTW in this very thread, there was a prediction that ultimately "the PSBs will play the major game in the bailout " --- seems to be exactly true. The news of EY going upto 40% and infusing $ isn't hap...Jump to post

They have increased RASK and reduced askms. Their presentation itself says this . The rest was a reason why their non fuel cask was high this time. CASK went up by 19% and RASK went up by mere 2.6%. Yes they do. Network restructuring takes time. Good thing is they could increase RASK and revenues even after reducing capacity. Now they didn't return any aircraft so a/c utilization went low this quarter. The complete restructuring of network will be done once the excess frames are returned and s...Jump to post
Well....the LCC King 6E is now going thru interesting times. What does IndiGo's or any other LCC's troubles have anything to do with Jet's bankruptcy? I am quite bored so I thought let me give this a try too! AI can barely manage 5/wk to SYD on a 788, putting a 77W would be a waste since it is better to use the plane's range on the US non stops. Out of 16 777s, I would put 14 in use and 1 spare each at DEL and BOM. BOM - EWR Daily - 2 77Ws BOM - ...Jump to post
As others have noted, only Vistara makes sense. They may also be making play to expand from MUC and ZRH to cities such as BLRZ. But AI does not have 15 77Ws.
Two 77Ws are back in the US for retro-fitting as VIP transports (VT-ALV and VT-ALW).
LH already interlines with AI and 9W for India side connections. They can go for Vistara too.
Don't bring 6E everywhere. LH group doesn't need them at the moment.
QR -6E codeshare hasn't even been announced officially yet but here we're talking about a third partner where there's no second!
With Mr Lohani back , I think we can expect AI to better utilize its 77Ws and 788s .
