With the digital tech these days, you don't even need a cockpit. A digital aircraft could be flown though a smart phone's WIFI I'm pretty sure. All it would take is some changes in the aircrafts network permissions and some code written.

Flying the aircraft "the right way" isn't really an issue. If an aircraft isn't flown per the limitations of the aircraft's flight manual, the pilot can face serious disciplinary action from the company and the F.A.A. There is whole lot more maneuverability in the aircrafts flight envelope...

Do regular line pilots go to PAE and pick up the airplanes or does Southwest have a special group of pilots that take care of this? I'm no expert but it's only 37 mile between SEA and PAE so I would guess that a crew from a flight into SEA would be the best choice for picking up the new plane at PA...
