Not uncommon. They've been using the crosswinds a few times today already. As a side note, no snow 200 miles south in St. Louis. Seems to be confined in MN/North Illinois/WI.

Crosswind runway used tonight (24) for the first time this year because of storm related winds. Also planes in holding pattern over Vandalia IL and Cape Girardeau.

That's common for secondary/eastern Europe, but not usually to LHR (which can usually be found for $1000 or lower).
