Re: Germany To Choose Between Chinook And CH-53K

There’s a huge difference between an airframe 60-70 years old like a B-52 and a design in continuous production like a 737 or CH-47, where the actual flying bits and large chunks of fuselage don’t even have significant structural resemblance to the original design. Not to mention the P-8 is replacin...

How is two old 747s hacked together and without any useful function, "a wonderful piece of engineering"? That’s not what it is, it uses salvaged 747 systems but the fuselage is largely bespoke and carbon fiber. This should be obvious after looking at it for about two seconds, which I ther...

Re: Future of western fighter production lines

The F-15 and F-18 are in a weird state of limbo. Production is winding down for air forces switching to an all-5th gen fleet but ramping up for air forces that for various reasons can’t practically do so. Boeing seems to be touting stealth features more frequently on the Super Bug especially given a...

Some reasons I support going to the F-15EX are: a) the risk of having all one type of fighter, a problem that grounds the fleet would be a disaster. b) The F-35 international sales will grab over 20 slots a year of the build, adding in the F-15EX will increase total fighter production by 15 or so p...

It kind of made sense in the 70’s (F-111/F-14/F-4 era) but I really didn’t even think it made sense for the F-15E models. It barely makes sense to even have pilots for most of those missions, heading into the 2030’s, imho. Tell that to all the nations buying F-15Es. Since the turn of the millennium...

Without even looking it up I’ll bet the 350 has much higher rated engines then the Delta. Those 350s are speed demons because they have the benefit of some of the most powerful PT6A variants yet (not all PT6As are created equally!)
