Re: Robert Mugabe dead at 95

You don't have to agree with him on a moral level, but Mugabe is a legend who knew how to play his own people as we as all the foreign (especially western) countries in order to stay in power.

Re: America the Mediocre

Gallup did a poll that showed that 70%+ of Americans have a positive opinion of the police. The rest of your post is conspiracy theory drivel. 90% of Americans have strong opinions but no foundational data to base those. :-) True that. I remember reading a paper on the perception of inequality and ...

Re: HU government tries to buy back BUD due to mismanagement

The LCC gates are bad, but you you get what you pay for (with those dirt cheap flights to BUD). Definitely don't support the gov. buying back the airport. Just another step in centralising/cementing his and his cronies positions without necessarily delivering any added value. If they want to prove h...

Re: CAAC issued security warning against Cathay over Hong Kong protest, ban protest-supporting staffs from flying into C

Anybody with a brain (yes some chickens without heads here) knows that this matter is political. Swire as a conglomerate with 80% if its employees in China/HK will have to bow down and accept what Beijing has to say. That's the reality and the business risk of operating in the region. Whether its mo...

Re: America the Mediocre

Our nationalism gets in the way of us seeing our flaws. Because we view ourselves as "the city on a hill" it becomes difficult for us to correct our flaws, because if we are truly a "city on a hill" we shouldn't have any flaws, and would never need to be corrected by the Europea...

Re: Trump wants to buy Greenland

Well ideally Greenlands voters should decide. If they think the US offers more (which as tommy1808 pointed out isn't quite sure), why not go with the US. Personally I don't really see a big connection of Greenland to either Denmark (apart from the generous subsidies and the history) or the US. Both...

Re: Trump wants to buy Greenland

Trump aside, what is the issue with the US buying Greenland? Purely from a geopolitical point of view I see advantages for both the US, Denmark & the EU. Russia and China will probably increasingly be flexing their muscles in the region. There can be no "Trump aside" because the whole...

Re: Switzerland to follow suit with Eco-Tax

The lack of competitiveness and attractiveness of the train is to be found elsewhere. In Europe, the continent where I live, the lack of network and commercial integration is the major cause of the lack of attractiveness. A journey between 2 majors cities like Berlin and Madrid still requires about...

Re: World's largest single-building satellite concourse ready to open at PVG

I was told even though the satellite terminal is one single building, it's split into S1 and S2 and each is operated separetely. There is no airside transfer facility between the two. I know everyone is excited as this is long over due but the soft product can be shockingly bad. That sounds pretty ...

Re: Switzerland to follow suit with Eco-Tax

Elections in Switzerland are in October and right now it is cool to be green.
Best to wait until spring when the national council discusses the matter.
