Re: Guns violence: Politicans secretly love it

The rest of the civilised world works fine relying on it's Police forces. They also have lower murder rate and lower violent crime. And? Is the 911 operator supposed to tell the woman home alone whose home is being broken into, "Don't worry, ma'am. You're probably going to die before the polic...

Re: Portland prepares for city's largest far-right rally of the Trump era

This isn't hard, people. The First Amendment gives people the right to voice their opinions-even opinions that most normal people would find reprehensible. The ACLU famously sued on behalf of neo-nazis so they could march through a Jewish community in Michigan, for example. Putting a mask on and vi...

Re: Guns violence: Politicans secretly love it

That's completely asinine and incorrect. There are far more instances of defensive gun usage in the United States each year than there are gun deaths. You can have an outstanding police force, but unless you have an officer in every single home ready to respond 24/7/365 (something that could cost m...

Re: Guns violence: Politicans secretly love it

No reason to even speculate about matters like this: The actual factual numbers show these simple truths: 1/Less guns = less deaths. This even include not having armed police= less death. 2/Bans work. It takes a bit of time, but gun-restrictions introduced reduce the number of deaths dramatically. ...

Re: NRA warns Trump against universal background checks

Terrible supposition and patently illogical. Terrorism is arguably impossible to thwart in every case, yet massive resources are devoted to stopping as many incidents as possible. The same with aviation safety, electrical installations, and many other safety concerns. If we follow your logic, we sh...

Re: NRA warns Trump against universal background checks

The problem I have with most gun control proposals is that they aren't likely to solve the problem. Take background checks and mass shootings, for example. El Paso...Dayton...Las Vegas...Orlando...etc. They all passed background checks. Very few mass shooters wouldn't pass a background check. The b...

Re: NRA warns Trump against universal background checks

The problem I have with most gun control proposals is that they aren't likely to solve the problem. [...] One of the reason why cities have a higher gun death rate is not because they are liberal bastions or often have Democrat leadership (sorry all who like to claim this), The reason is because &q...

Re: Mass Shooting in Dayton, 10 Dead

Two in 24 hours, must be a record. The 250th.. 251st shooting on day 216 of this year. There must have been multiple shootings on a single day before these last two. ( about 30..35 ? ) Doesn’t it say something about police culture in the US when two white guys can kill 30 people in separate inciden...

Re: Guns violence: Politicans secretly love it

[ In some parts of the US I completely accept that a form of gun is a tool and in some cases is required for security. But in most of America it isn't one that's required. It's purely for the fun of having a gun. If you need it for home protection, then your police force isn't doing it's job right....

Re: Guns violence: Politicans secretly love it

Tragedy happens So that will be your response when an idiot with an AR-15 guns down your family? * shoulder shrug * "What can you do? Tragedy happens." and the solution is to give your rights away to the government? Damn sad. What's damned sad is folks believing their right to a gun trump...

Re: Career change - how old?

I'd say it really depends on your individual financial situation. If you are looking at taking a pay cut when you transition to a new career, you need to be sure that you have enough money to cover your existing bills and any anticipated future expenses. 401k, retirement, etc are also important fact...

Re: Another mass shooting in El Paso

The issue cannot be "mental illness", as almost all (maybe all) of the shooters since the current upsurge in mass killings were just garden variety members of society before they went on their sprees: possibly a little quirky, but few of them had done anything that stood out enough to hav...

Would be nice, except congress removed Obama era mental health gun control regulations. What regulations were that? The only ones I recall was that those that received social security were no longer banned from owning outright. I bought multiple firearms during his tenure and I never had to deal wi...

Another Second Amendment Celebration. Gun lovers will continue to claim how much more important that they have access to AK-47s than "other people" simply having their lives. do people really need assault rifles to go deer hunting? And if they are a lousy shot of course they will need the...

Two years ago, believe it was IAH-DFW and then another one from DFW-RDU. I love the Mad Dogs...yes they can be loud if you are seated in the back, but they are very comfortable to fly on. Won't be able to get on an AA MD-80 before they retire but hoping I can catch a ride on a DL one while they are ...
