We were sort of expecting to see JAL get a HND-BOS flight, but that didn’t happen. Is it more likely that ANA gets that route, or no one gets it at all? I’m leaning toward BOS-HND doesn’t happen at all.

I think the Boston route is supposed to switch from 777 to 787 at some point in 2020, but from the schedules I can’t find out when. Also, I believe it’s supposed to be the 789 although I saw someone comment elsewhere it would be a 788.

There was a time (albeit brief) that QR used the 788 to Boston. If it didn’t have the crew rest area, how could they have managed that?

I read through the post on the AF A350, and, yes, it is stated as a 'one-way' event (does it fly EMPTY to Boston???). But it also went on to say that the carrier is still in the midst of fleshing things out and that more details would be forthcoming.

I think it will be a fine aircraft going forward. In Boston, the Terminal E expansion will include dual-aircraft piers, which is terrific for planes like the A321. I heard it mentioned that TK was going to put the 789 on the BOS route. That seats 300; the A333 seats 289-305. But if TK is doing that good at BOS, shouldn't the plane of choice be their 77W?

Actually, AA's new HND flights both replace existing NRT flights (LAX-NRT goes from 1x to 0x, and DFW-NRT goes from 2x to 1x), so UA is the only one of the US3 adding new flights. DL is flat. AA is down 0.5 due to the ORD-NRT cut, although I'm guessing JL's new ORD-HND will replace the 4x weekly OR...

My only frame of reference as far as Boston is concerned is how Hainan does it from Shanghai and Beijing. I would guess a 788 for BOS-HND and a later upgrade to a 789 if it proves itself. BOS-NRT ought to stay a 789.

I say it’ll be a 788 to HND, upgrading to a 789 if the route proves itself. NRT still needs the 789 even with this development, IMO.

As DL gets more A350s, the possibility exists that it may show up in Boston down the road. We know it won't be next year. The caveat is whether it blocks adjacent gates at A, something that DL wants to avoid.
