SIN used to have fairly soft-spoken announcements for final calls only and, depending on the airline/destination, in Mandarin, Bahasa Malaysia/Indonesia, Japanese, and Korean, in addition to English. They have done away with it and it's so quiet and calm. Meanwhile, in BKK, the constant announcement...Jump to post
Under the agreement, SIA and SilkAir plan to codeshare on MAS flights to 16 destinations in Malaysia - Alor Setar, Bintulu, Johor Bahru, Kota Bahru, Kota Kinabalu, Kuala Lumpur, Kuala Terengganu, Kuantan, Kuching, Labuan, Langkawi, Miri, Penang, Sandakan, Sibu, Tawau The deal will also allow MAS to...Jump to post
SIN-EWR was started as an all-J layout. Even on the A350, it’s First, Business and Premium Economy. I think they want to do research on ULH flights in economy class for one. No. It started as J + PEY, then went to all J. This was all with the A345. When it relaunched with the A359ULR it went back t...Jump to post
Not as short for sure, but KL seems to like doing 5th freedoms. They also do KUL-CGK and SIN-DPS. SIN-DPS has great deals, usually S$250 for Y and S$500 for J RT if you book in advance.Jump to post
I have flown into Japan from abroad and also flown domestically and never experienced any of this.Jump to post
Not quite the same, but for as long as I have lived in Singapore I remember the following: Pre-2008: Terminal 1 had gates C and D, Terminal 2 had gates E and F. So you wondered where were A and B? Post-2008: Terminal 3 was built and has gates A and B. The whole layout looks like a bit of a horseshoe...Jump to post
I have a new one I recently tried. Sri Lankan flight UL 306. Departs CMB 1:50am (which is 4:20am in SIN) and lands in SIN at 8:30am. Flight time is around 3h20m. Snagged 3 seats in the last row of the plane to lay down and sleep. F/As kept the lights on the entire flight. About an hour into the flig...Jump to post
To be fair I have only tried it on the 748i in the upper deck, where you get a bit of extra space with the bins by the windows, but it is fantastic, and once the partition goes out, suuuuper private.Jump to post
This is the same as the Prestige Suite on KE. Seat is fantastic, despite not being 1-2-1. Very spacious.Jump to post
I spent some time in Sri Lanka in 2017. Drove all around the island for a week. I didn’t see why people are so into it. Is it because it is far away from most things? It’s one of the few places in the world I’ve been that I have zero desire to ever return to. My friend with me felt the same. I woul...Jump to post
I'm going to Sri Lanka at the end of this week for a couple of days. Very much looking forward to it!Jump to post
Anything India > Southeast Asia. Most flights depart India close to midnight (around 1:30/2:30am in BKK, KUL, SIN) and land around 6:30am. I don't think it's that bad now is it? You still have around 5 hours to sleep. BLR-SIN actually flying time is about 4 hours. When you account for the time it t...Jump to post
Look at SQ's schedules on SIN-LHR. It is mostly A380s with the odd 77W depending on the season. You have two daily red-eyes SIN-LHR and two daily day flights SIN-LHR. On the return, similarly you have two morning departures ex-LHR which land at SIN just in time to connect to SE Asia bank of flights ...Jump to post
I think most airlines would only book you on a codeshare flight provided you fly at least partway on their own metal. Not true. I have flown SQ but bought the ticket through GA on a GA code. SIN-DPS-SIN. Was about half price of what SQ was asking for. But that’s a flight which terminates at the mar...Jump to post

SIN: - Two transit hotels airside - Crowne Plaza hotel at Terminal 3 - Yotel Air at Jewel (at Terminal 1) BKK: - Novotel in front of main terminal building - A bunch of capsule hotels in the basement next to Suvarnhabhumi station CGK: - Closest is an airport hotel about 5 mins from the 3 terminals. ...Jump to post
So I was booked to take a flight form MSP-DTW-NRT-SIN on October 20th. My flights haven't changed under my reservations but I can't go and rebook these flights anymore. It also has a note that there is a change in my flight itinerary. All new bookings are showing that the flights are now going thro...Jump to post
lshrion, UA couldn’t make the B789 work on LAX-SIN was NOT due to market conditions (they were selling out Polaris too) but the fact that in the winter they had to block too many Y seats to make the flight non-stop when they could maximize the revenue in SFO and block significantly less seats. LAX-...Jump to post

For those curious, I had a very tight (~25 min) connection in ICN which I made with time to spare, and KE 35 ended up arriving in ATL 40 mins early. Immigration and customs took less than 5 mins and was even able to catch an earlier connecting flight to FLL.Jump to post
Cubsrule wrote:Are you checking bags? If you are and the KE agents can’t or won’t stitch the PNRs, that will complicate things significantly.
If have the ability to add the DL ATL-FLL segment on to the KE itinerary without any additional fees applied then you might want to think about doing that very thing. If you do then if you're a miss-connect DL will automatically re-book you on the next available flight. Should you still want to hav...Jump to post
Provided your flight into ATL is on time, 2 hours is plenty of time to make your connection, even if you get hung up for a bit at customs/immigration. The ATL airport has a separate security line for connecting international passengers (separate from the main line of people entering from the outsid...Jump to post

Thanks a lot! I will likely book a DL flight in domestic F so hoping that (1) they can tag my bags all the way to FLL so I just need to pick up luggage and re-check + get a boarding pass issued in SIN [origin] and (2) also hoping if I miss my 12:15pm flight I can easily get rebooked on the ~2pm flig...Jump to post
Hi What should be a reasonable connecting time from an int'l flight (KE 35, landing around 10am) to a domestic flight (ATL to either MIA or FLL) on separate tickets? I have not yet bought the domestic ticket, but I am considering either AA ATL-MIA (but connecting time is 6 hours, which is way too lo...Jump to post

It was mentioned on History of PIA that the security apparatus around ISB was very sophisticated. The flight takes a circular takeoff path and has to be at least at FL240 before entering the airspace over KP (former North West Frontier Province), and at least FL280 before entering Afghan airspace. ...Jump to post

ACES, Continental, ALM, SAM. ACES and Continental were fantastic. ALM I flew from CUR to AUA. Don't remember much. SAM was OK. Also flew AirUK. First time as a UM. From London (don't remember which airport) to FLR. Flight felt like it took forever.

American has Concierge Key, an invite only level for this exact reason. SQ has a spend based tier as well, not familiar with it though. My understanding is that UA is essentially infusing cash into AV to ensure they have a viable Alliance/JV partner long with Copa in the LatAm market. Wouldn’t it be better for United to try and push for a merger between Avianca and Copa which seems to be better run? If I’m not mistaken, UA has alre...Jump to post
Ugh. The 773As with the old seats in J and Y don't seem like they will ever go away. Some 773s (3 out of 5 exactly) have the 2006 Economy product similar to the ones on older A380s. I'm aware. But when you are doing constant runs in the early morning or evening to CGK or MNL, there's a high chance ...Jump to post
