Re: London Southend Airport wants to increase capacity to 20 million pax and build 2nd terminal - but where?!

Also, they say that the current terminal is at 90% capacity. But they only extended the original terminal about 5 years ago. Why design/build something which is at 90% capacity after 5 years of it opening? Seems a bit short sighted? https://www.echo-news.co.uk/news/18041256.southend-airport-reveals...

London Southend Airport wants to increase capacity to 20 million pax and build 2nd terminal - but where?!

A couple of weeks ago there was an article in the Echo stating that SEN wants to increase capacity to 20 million passengers and build a 2nd terminal. But where would they build it?! They could extend the current one north a little bit, but not enough to build a 2nd one there. The only other option i...

Re: Vueling drops LCG-LHR and leaves Heathrow in 2020

EasyJet have much bigger operations at each of the 4 London airports. So I don't think you can compare that to VY serving 7 routes from LGW, one seasonal route from LTN and then 1-2 new routes from STN. To me, that makes no sense. Bearing in mind that Vueling have no UK based crews or planes, and n...

Re: Vueling drops LCG-LHR and leaves Heathrow in 2020

I'm surprised they don't transfer it to LGW or even LTN since VY already operate from those airports. What's the point of splitting operations across 3 London airports? Even two airports would be better, surely? LTN only sees the seasonal FLR flight. What even is the point of that flight, when they...

Its worth noting that Vueling didn't put A Coruna - London Heathrow on sale for Summer 2019 until December 2018. They wait to see if subsidies come first. Not saying it won't be dropped but think its too early to speculate yet as the route is always a late addition Vueling has asked for Stansted sl...

By the way, the east-west format is common throughout the UK because of the prevailing winds. There are social and political problems to consider, one of ...

How would you design London's airports if you could start from scratch with little limitations?

I've always wondered what one would design if we could rebuild London's airports from scratch. And I'm not just talking about the specific design of the terminal, but more how many airports for London, where would they be, how many terminals, how many runways. what airlines would you base at each ai...

Could they not have at least chosen STN? Much nicer airport. LTN - even with the refurb - is an absolute dive. Also, if it's once weekly, surely they could have operated into LHR still? Or even LGW.

That'd be rather counterproductive, seeing as DL's A333s seat more people than their 77Es do (293 vs 288).

I didn't know that. So could they have put their A333's on the route instead?

VS used to have 744's and 346's to JFK 4-5 times daily so the present capacity isn't that much of a jump up from the past. True. But didn't they operate those aircraft before the JV with DL? Big capacity increase on VS's LHR-JFK flight due to 4 x A350's being deployed on route. Were they under capacity before?

VS was most recently 6 x daily on LHR-JFK (mostly on A333's and 2 A346's I think?) and DL were 2 x daily (also on A333's I think?). VS are now going 5 x daily (with 4 x A350's and 1 x A333) and DL will be going 3 x B764. So still 8 flights overall. But with 4 of those flights going A350, that's a hu...

You don't have to book online. You can call reservations and ask about availability. The number is +44 (0)344 874 7747 I know, but it's just strange that it doesn't come up online. Pretty terrible that it doesn't come up. If it's sold out, it would say. But there's obviously a glitch in the system.

How accurate is Seat Guru usually?
