Hi, Recently I felt very funny to find a story; About 38 years ago there used to be a PRIMITIVE and BRUTAL competition between JAL and ANA. Under such circumstances, B727 of All Nippon Airways had a record of flight from Osaka to Tokyo for just 26 minutes (airborn time) and 35 min (block out-in time...Jump to post
Thanks for comments, especially TimeForFlight. There still is possibility of this incident being not what he intended to, because he jumped into with crying something swinging his arms to somewhere, and that may mean some kind of thing suddenly emerged on starting taxi, but I'm not sure. If ever thi...Jump to post
Interesting question. I am reminded that when I went to a motor license school, they recommend to wear glove to avoid slip in holding the wheel with sweaty hand. There seem to be both Practical and Formal reasons. Practical. - wethaer; In Japan it is much more humid than in US or Europe (maybe), and...Jump to post
Should this be called incident or accident?
News says it was probably a suicide.
At 14:15LT on 4/18, in Kansai Airport Japan, an Air China mechanic suddenly dashed into the running engine of B767 The ship was flight Air China 928 bound to Beijin. This incident occured when the aircraft completed push back and started taxing to the taxy way from the epron. Half of the body under ...Jump to post
In the afternoon yesterday 4/17, many flights approaching to Narita suffered from wind shear and heavy cross wind. Some flights gave up landing and diverted to Haneda. Reportedly west wind at 3000ft was about 60-70 knots. How difficult to land RW16 with cross wind of 230 at 35 kt plus wind shear!! A...Jump to post

I imagine the first priority of what NW intend is to aquire landing rights to newly opening runway at Narita. The low utilization of the fleet may the second problem. I have further wondered if how this small pencil as A320 could compete with fat boys as B747 or B777 which other airlines fly. Probab...Jump to post

To observe the operation of KE, I am not sure why KE has so poor safety record as AA to get rid of mileage-alliance with KE. They communicates smoothly in ATC, and no worry about behavior in landing and depature. Have a fun with KE, and if whether permitting enjoy how Tokyo city in Japan looks from ...Jump to post

Narita is surrounded by many small hills,
and ground surface is up and down around. This often seem to cause wind-shear and turbulence to easily happen.
I hope not to get its looong tail struck on runway...
JAL might be childish because JAL is for children, sometimes. Japanese adults take more value on children and spend much more money for them even parents give up what they want to purchase. In market strategy JAL and ANA have successfully adopted Disney MickeyMouse, Snoopy, and whales for scheme to ...Jump to post

On that day strong southwind brought chinese yellow sand as far as Hokkaido, northern Japan. And 19 flights to Narita including NW, CO were forced to divert to
alternative airports as Haneda,Kansai.
On the pic above the rudder of B747 shows how strong the wind was blowing.
Two years ago I was spotting at Narita listening to ATC, when FEDEX come into the radio. I expected MD11 is approaching. Thanks for reply, OPNLguy. Do you know some civil airport next to you where PAR/GCA approach performed? If done, how often?
I have heard that it is a good oppotunity for both pilots and ground controller to deepen mutual credibility through the most minute and intimate communication via voice.
Is this accident a kind of metal fatigue caused by being an aged aircract? (built in 1970) I had at that time quite much of distrust in safety to several aged 747s for United Airlines (with only 3 upper deck windows), because there was an incredible incident in which 3 out of 4 engines were mulfunct...Jump to post
