Narita is surrounded by many small hills,
and ground surface is up and down around. This often seem to cause wind-shear and turbulence to easily happen.

On that day strong southwind brought chinese yellow sand as far as Hokkaido, northern Japan. And 19 flights to Narita including NW, CO were forced to divert to
alternative airports as Haneda,Kansai.

ATC Minimum Separation

When the oposit wind is so strong, pilot often seems to be anxious about his separation to the preceeding traffic and asks to the approach controller what types of aircraft he is and the distance inbetween . Is it possible that even momentary the separation becomes shorter than minimum?

I got information from other channel that
UA9001 was 747-400
2 VC-25s and that UA 747-400 stayed in HANEDA without ferry. (YOKOTA AB's runway construction affects or enough spared space in HANEDA.)
