Re: United Fleet, Network, & Livery Thread - 2020

I believe the 739non-ERs have been scheduled successfully in and out of IAH for a couple years or more as stage lengths are not an issue. If UA is grounding aircraft these should be brought back last, but they are capable units that should be saving UA about $50 on landing fees per arrival vs. the ER.

Re: United Fleet, Network, & Livery Thread - 2020

UA does seem to have a plan for these fleets. There are easy ways to see where aircraft are parked, stored or operating. All updated daily and available from fleet site home page (see links bottom of all my posts). 1.) Fleet site United Mainline Fleet Spreadsheet - it now has a column for parking lo...

Re: United Fleet, Network, & Livery Thread - 2020

I see that 788 and its doing a RT IAD-NRT-PEK-NRT-IAD. Seems kind of odd as the 788 has 25% less cargo space than the 789. UA is moving to smaller units domestically. I see this percentage in service (flying today or scheduled tomorrow) Narrowbodies (overall 13.8% in service, 370 of 572 [64.6%] stor...

Re: United Fleet, Network, & Livery Thread - 2020

Due to high and hot, isn't tire speed the issue with JNB departures? I wonder how the 789 does vs. the 77L in this factor? I wonder if LH pullback will put more UA metal on FRA and MUC flights? Maybe when things come back, there would be an opportunity to add more Germany smaller markets from EWR, e...

UA444. You've bashed the 764 on on this thread before and promoted the more orphan, smaller, high-cycled 752PW fleet. I'm wondering if you have stock in Pratt and Whittney. The 764 was at the end of the 767 program and was built for CO/DL to replace DC10's and L-1011s. If earlier in the program undo...

Re: United Fleet, Network, & Livery Thread - 2020

The only problem with the 764 is door 2. I'll bet the 764s would have been at the top of the Polaris retrofit list if there wasn't a fixed doorway that messes with Polaris seats. I guess UA would be saving ?? dollars to not retrofit 764s with Polaris seats from the 1992 763s that could be retired? H...

Bingo, I've been posting for years on this thread and wondered way back when why CO/UA didn't add an 1 aux tank on the 739ER. Jay, I understand UA has to save cash, but would find it very dire situation if UA feels it has to retire all 757s at this point. 1.) Fuel prices should continue to be low for quite a while 2.) Ownership cost should be lower than new aircraft Is it coincidence that the 320 family of aircraft were no...

I am going to wager that AA & AS merge after this Wuhan virus meltdown is over. Industry will consolidate further. I could also see an F9/NK merger as well. Assuming they all survive, yes, if allowed, I see the potential of DL/HA, AA/AS, UA/B6, F9/NK/G4 (All Airbus), and WN probably absorbing S...

Re: United Fleet, Network, & Livery Thread - 2020

The 78X carries 40 LD3 positions, 8 more than the 772 while burning less fuel. The 77W holds 4 more than the 78X, but also burns more fuel. With no passengers and a relatively short haul to AMS, the 78X would be the best way to move cargo, unless floor limits in certain positions preclude heavy pall...

Re: United Fleet, Network, & Livery Thread - 2020

Are you talking only mainline or Express as well and is the 43 UA only? I assume that includes aircraft on gates. Looking at DEN, there are 4 788s on the ground and all the rest are narrowbodies that aren't departing today. Interesting that about 10 of the 16 or 17 narrowbodies have upcoming flights...

Re: United Fleet, Network, & Livery Thread - 2020

It might be that UA will not convert the last 7 763s. 4 were to be High J and 3 30J configurations. N674UA, a 2000 build was recently painted with EvoBlu livery. Exiting HKG prior to Polaris installation (arrived a week ago) is probably a good indicator that UA may bail on the remaining 7 763s w/o P...

Re: United Fleet, Network, & Livery Thread - 2020

6674 due to exit HKG to GUM on the 23rd. Due to park in ROW right away. Any idea what routing they are going to take to get the plane from GUM to ROW? That's bad news as the aircraft isn't getting Polaris. Either a cash situation or UA believes it may not need so many 46J seated 763s after restart....
