I was 37 years old and on a Delta MD-90 from Birmingham to Atlanta. It had been storming all the night before and it was still overcast and drizzling rain when we took off.

I had never flown in a commercial airliner before 2003, when I was 37 years old.

I have taken a total of 11 plane trips in my life, two to Greenville, South Carolina and nine to Reno, Nevada.
