RE: Air Arabia Eyes Second Hub In Levant, India

Amman should be a great choice for Air Arabia. Queen Alia Int'l Airport will be receivng shortly a major facelift and undergo a sizeable expansion. Not sure though about the monopoly of Royal Jordanian and how long it will last. Definately not Gaza and forget Damascus of course...Beirut, may be, but...

RE: Info For AMM Spotters

Hi Polair

Thanks for the info..

Unfortunately, Queen Alia Airport is far from the city (about 32kms) in the middle of no where and very high security Sad

Is this a charter flight?

Cheers from Amman

RE: What Aircraft Are The Tamil Tigers Using?

Thanks Mel, very interesting indeed. Wonder how these Zlins entered Sri Lanka? The airstrip that the Tigers use is clearly visible on Google Earth! Not wanting to politicize this post, but how come the Sri Lankan air force does not pound it day and night if this strip clearly poses a serious threat ...

What Aircraft Are The Tamil Tigers Using?

According to CNN, Tamil Tiger rebels used two light aircraft to bomb and strafe an air force base next to Colombo International Airport.

What aircraft are the Tigers using for such raids and from which base do they operate? Never knew the Tigers had an airforce.

Any info would be appreciated

RE: Salam, UAE Aviation Thread :)

Great thread UAEflyer! A couple of questions come to mind...With all the huge aircraft orders on the books and with new and frequent start-up airlines in the UAE.. Will the seats be filled? Can all of them survive? Isn't this becoming a 'me too' kind of business? What's next, Fujaierah airlines? Sal...

Nice effort!

Is there such big demand in Saudi on air travel? I used to hear many people describe for me big line-ups of Saudi Arabian airlines aircraft on the ground!

I would never really envisage Saudi Typhoons firing in anger. I believe the next threat to them is from within. May be some cheaper COIN aircraft would be more of need.

RE: Iraqi AF Hulks Anyone Seen Any Hawker Hunters?

During the 2003 invasion, I saw footage (on CNN) of US air force plane's infra red targeting H-3 airbase which clearly showed a silhouette of a Hawker Hunter on the ground which was subsequently destroyed by cluster bombs. I'm pretty sure they were used as decoys as it was parked next to a Mig-17.

LV 744

Jordanian 104s were never used in anger..

I heard one stroy though that an RJAF 104 shot down another RJAF 104 in an attempted coup against late King Hussein sometime in the early 70s.

Cheers
