The P-38 belongs in the list. Despite being misused early in the ETO (bad air-to-air tactics**), given a wholly incorrect reputation for short range (mind you the P-38 had the range to escort bombers long before the Mustang came on the scene*), and fighting in an environment *much* more favorable to...

RE: Why Do Sidesticks Make Mech Backup Impossible?

There's nothing inherent in sidesticks preventing them from supporting mechanical control linkages, except that sidesticks usually have pretty short throws, which limits the amount of mechanical force you can apply. A number of aircraft have purely mechanical sidesticks, the Rutan Long-EZ and severa...

I don't know, but I actually like the 747LCF in primer. It's got a gritty industrial look which is just right for something that's essentially part of the 787 factory. The painted version is too dainty looking.

At least two C-47s were rammed by zeros in WW2 and lived to tell the tale. Tough birds. In both cases the fighters went down, and in one case the C-47 got credited with a kill. In almost any case ramming another aircraft is pretty much a last ditch maneuver, and you'll be going down too. A noteworth...
