Re: U.S. Dept of Commerce backs Boeing in dispute with Bombardier

The Boeing / Airbus suit is way past arbitration, and I think nearly all the possible EU/Airbus appeals have been filed (although something might be negotiated if duties are applied per the WTO). The UAL 737-700 order is evidence of a distorted market due to C Series Sales subsidies. Pursuing FAA Ce...

Re: U.S. Dept of Commerce backs Boeing in dispute with Bombardier

Wow, what does this mean for Airbus once the WTO suit is complete (soon). Certainly, the UAL order for discounted 737 airplanes is more evidence of the damage that foreign manufactures can do to a domestic industry when sales are directly subsidized by foreign taxpayers. If the Chinese can get FAA c...

RE: 797 The Eventual Succesor To The 737?

I would like to see Boeing build a new narrowbody, but would rather see it as an "in addition to the 737 MAX family. " I think Boeing is giving up on the A319 market to better attack the A320 (new simple shrink -7Max that is about the same size as the A320 but more range/better performance). How man...

Boeing's issue with the cost of the 787 thus far is water under the bridge. Their debt load is close to their cash on hand and they are expected to bank 10 billion per year for the foreseeable future. I wish I had Boeing's problems.  <img src="http://cdn-www.airliners.net/aviation-forums/graphi...

Can The 777-8X Compete With The A350-1000

I guess one could almost argue that the A350-1000 could be a niche for airlines that simply want a few to go with their -900 airplanes. If you are a 787 operator and or a 777 operator, might as well buy 777-8 for the extra performance (to go with the -10 and 777-9). <table border="0" align="CENTER" ...

I suspect Airbus will do a clean sheet in the 200-300 seat widebody segment. A330NEO will most likely be limping along within 10 years and need to be replaced.

Can The 777-8X Compete With The A350-1000

A lot has been said in this thread regarding the 777-8 being relegated to a niche market by a superior A350-1000, as the latter is quite a bit lighter. However - The 777 should have newer engines with better fuel burn, say greater then 5 percent The 777 should have better aerodynamics due to the win...

the 737 already has a FBW system, it is called autopilot (less some of the back driven functions), which is used 99 percent of the time.

Regarding envelope protection, Boeing and Airbus aeroplanes with FBW systems are quite different, no ??

The 330neo could be similar to the 747-8i. Older model airplanes available (over 100 A330s coming off lease second half of the decade) for a much cheaper price, while new airplanes, both smaller and larger offering better value. 777 / 747-400 / 747-8i / 380.

Airbus certainly need to offer something in this space, as the 787-9/-10 will do to the A330-300 what the 787-8 has already done to the A330-200. The major problem for Airbus is they will be offering a product that doesn't provide the value of the competitor's product. Then take into account that th...

If you changed the operating weight of the airplane in addition to the reduced max thrust, then yes you would reduce the fee.

Reducing the thrust on some airplanes in a fleet, but keeping the same operating weight could be an option.

In other words, can't argue your point trex.

One last thing, the OEMs charge for thrust, so reducing the max thrust of the engine reduces the cost of the engine. If you want to increase later, you will have to pay for that thrust. Same goes with airplane operating weights, each tail number has a max weight, which can be different then a sister...

I don't see any real savings on airport fee's as the airplane would be operated at a similar weight, otherwise they wouldn't be operating an airplane with de-rated engines. My understanding is that when you de-rate you operate the engine at a lower temp, so as the margin between this temp and the ma...
