Based on the topic thread for the announcements, it seems that is most likely driven by a/c utilization. So it might be that they are very optimistic about this route and a daily might have been a more optimum utilization of the airframe than a lesser frequency.

DL has tried both, non-stop JFK and ATL - BOM. Rather unsuccessfully. These days, DL is also shuttering non-stops to China. You think India market is more wealthy than China?
