The issue is not that there isn't the demand but there is a ton of flights that are cheap from the mainland of NA as it is. From LAX alone today, Saturday, there are 17 flights from LAX alone. Fares are still pretty expensive. I can find cheaper flights from MIA to Europe than I can from LAX to HNL...Jump to post
I personally try to avoid flying from MIA as much as possible. My last flight from MIA was July 2016 on DL MIA-ATL-MSY and the return MSY-ATL-FLL. I prefer and always look to fly from FLL (and not just because I work for an airline out of FLL), 1st and foremost as I can not stand MIA. Yes FLL has i...Jump to post
I still like flying BA but I feel like they're losing the edge that I would've willingly paid extra for.Jump to post
They don't have much to gain by splitting their operation and going head to head with AA.Jump to post
I didn't realize how much progress they've already made with the 772 refurbishment! Last I checked, only a few had been done. Well done AA! AA announced the lie-flat refurb of the 777s nearly five years ago. 'Well done' is the last comment they should receive. The project has been a complete, multi...Jump to post

The UK's secretary of state for exiting the European Union has indicated that the country may not have access to EU-US open skies after its departure from the bloc. Asked during a select committee hearing whether the UK would no longer be part of the open-skies agreement post-Brexit, David Davis re...Jump to post
United needs to accept the fact that they are no longer a big fish and do not have the clout to dictate aircraft development. The days when Boeing was willing to whip up a tailor made aircraft - 767-400 - for the then Continental Airlines and Delta Airlines, are long gone. They need to learn to adj...Jump to post

I know a few people already drove this point home, but SFO is UA's largest MX base and they do a ton of heavy maintenance. They also have the most 777s of any U.S. airline, so AF are in good hands. I was under the impression that the poor reliability on UA, whether perceived or real, wasn't necessar...Jump to post
I think Delta could add a few flights, as they have some flights to Europe from Pittsburgh, Chicago, and so on.Jump to post
I don't really know what people are expecting the article to say.To publicly announce their step by step plan on how they'll regain marketshare from AA? As someone who flies through ORD a lot (mostly on AA right now) I think its pretty exciting that UA wants to step it up. ORD is their largest hub a...Jump to post
There's a joke about AA sending old planes to MIA to die. Not completely true with the 77Ws and A321s now, but you get the idea.
I'm sure the planes will come to MIA at some point, once AA has more, but in the near term, I'm doubtful.
In the meantime, LA is flying the 787 from MIA to SCL.
I understand why Canada has preclearance. But is anyone trying to fly nonstop AMS-MCI or the like? I don't see the point of having it in AMS and I don't know what they would gain to benefit from this.Jump to post
Mods, can you please lock this thread? The site in question still redirects to United.com, there is no reason for this thread to exist. Some people may be interested discussing this topic, including the reasoning and purpose of why UA may or may not decide to do something. You shouldn't recommend t...Jump to post
A few people have mentioned that airlines need to get new IT systems, which is fair. However, its not that easy to completely scrap and replace current systems given their size and complexity. I'm sure the airlines are working to make sure that these issues don't happen (as they shouldn't), but for ...Jump to post
I really like the idea of having seatback entertainment but most AA domestic planes don't have them. If I'm only getting seatback 10% of the time I'm flying domestic AA, then I basically consider that as not getting seatback IFE while flying domestic AA. With the size of the combined fleet, and give...Jump to post
I don't fly through JFK often so I can't comment on those issues. But for me, the experience is mostly fine. Not being to check in online through AA is somewhat annoying, but AA and BA have been able to pull each other's boarding passes for me after visiting an agent. On my domestic flight last week...Jump to post
So, lets recognize is not going to be cheaper for anyone to travel, even those having no luggage at all. They will not have, say a 10% discount as they have not even a carry on. They will charge more to the regular passenger. Isn't it wrong? This is what I'm predicting too. Right now I can pay AA $...Jump to post

I'm not sure why people are surprised that they can't "even pull off 1 daily flight from the third largest metro". The people who are willing to pay nonstop and/or to fly up front are already flying AA or UA, which offer more competitive schedules (9 daily nonstop flights this summer betwe...Jump to post
Its great that we have the technology to do flights like these, but that is personally way too long of a flight for me to sit through.Jump to post
Not down playing anything but a free turkey sandwich on 2 routes is hardly spectacular in book. Also if UA were to bring free Y/C domestic meals it would be on all domestic routes not just a specific 2 . And how do you know this. Aside from bringing back mini snacks United is more about subtraction...Jump to post

There is no business case to do so. UA focuses on business traffic to/from Chicago, and with a direct rail link already in existence between ORD and The Loop, they already cater to the needs of their target market. I fly in and out of MDW fairly frequently -- sometimes for pleasure but mostly for b...Jump to post
I hope it will not affect my flight on 22 December. It is exactly in one itinerary, bought via CX website. OSL - FRA with LH. You're thinking of your inconvenience as a passenger. There's plenty of stuff going on in the cockpit and on the ramp while passengers board. Plus, you'd need two jetbridges/staircases instead of one. So on top of extra equipment, you'd more personnel to facilitate boarding. Plus, how many airports ...Jump to post

Electoral College or not, the problem for the democrats was low voter turn out. The idea that "my vote won't matter, so I'm not going to vote" is toxic.
Apparently it mattered in MI, PA, and WI. And it probably mattered in FL too
For those of us from the US, these flights are good for going to DEL or BOM, but why would I connect twice to go to Calcut / Chennai / Bangalore / Hyderbad etc.. when I can do that one stop through any number of other carriers? This is a screen shot from a video Boeing had posted three or four years ago. I remember that it came up in some a.net thread at that time when there was absolutely no other speculation that the 77W would find a home at UA.
