The JFK transcons survived on corporate travel and we all know it's half of what it was 3 years ago. Conventional wisdom from analysts and even CEOs is that it will recover to 70% of 2019 levels....at best. Seems that deploying assets in more sustainable markets and letting AA,DL & B6 brawl it ...Jump to post
QF announced MEL-CGK 3 weekly on the 330. Bit of a surprise! Trying to satisfy curiosity but what were the BKK and HKG flight timings by QF into and out of LHR? Where is a good resource for historic timetables? Both night flights, only SIN (1 of 2) had the lunchtime departure. Purely from my own logs, QF30 in 2011 had a dept of 22:30 while QF2 had a dept of ...Jump to post
BA leases the two LHR slots from QF. Usually on a five year basis. I’m unsure when the current lease is set to expire. My understanding is they have another early afternoon and evening departure. QF fly to WLG via MEL and SYD only. Sorry if I was confusing but I was meaning a BNE to WLG tag with EK (even if not daily) as currently Air NZ are the only ones who fly it that route. I don't believe QF have ever flown it or if they have, it hasn't been flown for some time. QF have flown BNE-WLG a...Jump to post
Is EK still only 1 x daily into PER? Absolutely crazy how they went from having a complete stronghold on that market half a decade ago (was once 3 x daily) to this, especially with the absence of EY. Recently reverted back to daily A380, but they seem to play second fiddle to QR out of PER these da...Jump to post
Do you think, even further down the road, EK would look to do any tags to the new 77W BNE flight to NZ? For instance onto WLG seeing as NZ is the only carrier there as no QF or VA, or even to CHC instead? Or aside from the A380 SYD-CHC tag, EK isn't really interested in tag on flights? Whether EK e...Jump to post
I can’t see DL expanding outside of SYD for some time to come. Operating a schedule that best meets demand into one port is likely better from a cost perspective, but given that it has been reported that MEL is chasing DL service, I guess it will depend on how good the deal is on the table at that ...Jump to post
Chinese airlines boosting capacity into the country following their reopening.
Lets hope our airports can cope. Yesterday's Age had an article that 2000 jobs are vacant at MEL, last week my friend waited 3 hours for baggage at T2.
This is on my bucket list, although having to pay for the pool as a guest seems mean. Its a shame you cant book this hotel on 3rd party sites.Jump to post
Related question to the above topics, with the Chinese carriers returning to our ports, and other new entrants, are the airport ground handling providers ready for an uptick in services? I departed internationally from Melbourne on New Years Day and it was a [email protected] show....not enough staff to unload ...Jump to post
Once again the 12 A350s are not going to be enough if QF are serious about direct routes to places like CDG, ORD, FRA etc. Already slated A350 routes SYD-LHR, MEL-LHR, PER-LHR, and SYD-JFK will use at least 8 frames. Only leaves 3 plus 1 for a spare. I think all those cities are merely just words a...Jump to post

Whats the smallest aircraft regularly scheduled into SIN? Anything smaller than A319?
Yes, Firefly uses ATR72s into SIN from KUL and Kuching.

I don't know why but Dreamliners generally don't age well. I recently flew B787 (Qatar Airways) and the whole interior looked quite worn out. If QF were offered a good price for the A330-900NEOs, i could see them going for it. Lighter frame for the shorter Asia runs and transcon domestic etc, enough range for LAX-BNE if required, same flight crew pool at the A350. RR engines are also used on the A330NEO as with the upcoming A350. What is...Jump to post

Thanks, makes sense. EBB & D are domestic config so nice to see more A330s back on transcon, they are much nicer to fly. No talk of A330 on the BNE-PER route, which isnt surprising as precovid it was only occasional, maybe 1 daily which is a shame for the longest capital route but id imagine les...Jump to post

Really? Id think QF would use whatever HND slots they had for daily SYD/MEL/BNE, then multiday at those ports and PER/ADL before using the scarce slot for a JQ service from CNS.
Just wait for JQ to launch the sale fares.Jump to post

Interestingly, BA has never flown the A380 to Australia either. Only LHR-SIN terminators got the A380, LHR-SIN-SYD was a mix of 70/86J 744s, 77Ws and I think 789s. Not even 86J 744.
