My first flight was in 1986 from MIA-Mexico City. I remember it was a DC-10 in a whit livery what seemed to be an aztec coin on the tail. The seats were aztecy and the flight attendants were hotties. The real question with LanChile is what they will use to replace their shorthaul 737-200. Theres rumors of an A320 order to fill in the shoes so an A340 order might not be that crazy. I love the LanChile hub in Santiago. The international terminal is impressive. Its about 4 yrs. old. They have this restaurant with a great view of the runways. They have one of the few if not the only hangar capable of performing D- checks.

On the MIA-SCL flight aboard Lan Chile they wake you up like 30 minutes before dawn to serve breakfast since you will be arriving in SCL within the hour.

Coming down in Punta Arenas, Chile from SCL on a Lan Chile 737-200. The Pilot advised to buckle the seat belts. It was Good Friday at 3:00 p.m. (for Catholics...this is the time that Christ died) we were at about 3,000+ feet when the thrust come down to near idle. We could almost hear the crosswinds...

I love the dawn approach to Santiago, Chile. Santiago is a valley and when you descend you are flying through the Andes and the sunrise on the mountains is a beaut. Next time I fly there I promise I will take pic and post them on this site.

I know lanchile is looking into aquiring A320's for its national operations so they might send the existing 737-200's to LAN Peru (i believe they own 16??not sure). These aircraft are super fclean and most sport the "Wide Body" look. The aircraft are impressive. I flew on one from Punta Arenas to SC...

I think we should incorporate Airbus' into the fleet to keep everyone happy, although I personally like boeing better. The ATR-42/72 is great for a "link" airways. How 'bout the alliance plan. This way we do not need new aircraft. We can setup an International hub which is well situated such as JFK....

In miami there's the Old PAN AM flight school and the Airbus School. I think both are available to the general public. I've also heard of the Lufthansa Flight School, it is supposed to eb the best in the world.

I was once stucl on a MIA-Santiago flight aboard a 767-200, I was in Business and in Non-Smoking. However the paxs in front of me were both smokers in smoking sections. I passed a 8 hr. flight inhaling smoke. Onboard smoking is not fair to nonsmokers whom do not want to kill themselves.

I recently flew from MIA-PHX-LAX and back with Continental and on two of the flights the food reaked. They gave me a chicken creme with lettuce on cold, hard bread.
