I thought one of the issues with the 787s (and A330s) is the lack of stands at domestic terminals which can accommodate them.

The 767s didnt have an issue fitting on the main pier stands at SYD or MEL

JQ has scheduled A320s on MEL-DPS next year. Are these actually intended to be the new A321LRs?

I dont think the standard JQ A320s would make MEL-DPS, without significant payload hit anyway.

Will the new 787 issues require QF 787s to be removed from service to be inspected? Hopefully wont impact the planned return to service.

Yes, the tender is for Boeing 737 and Boeing 717 replacement only. No mention of the Fokker aircraft, so you might be right, that the 717s get redeployed. If not, I wonder if Hawaiian might want them, as the ones in Australia should be in good condition operating around dry Australia vs the islands...

I think the Fokkers and 717 were preferred for being less vunerable for FOD from the inland runways used. Replacing them with E2s, NEO or MAX wouldnt really address that challenge. Can't they find young CRJ900s until E3s become available? The CRJs would be weight limited I think off the shorter run...
