hmmm, AA DC-10 at DCA. Well, the last heavy at DCA wasn't too long ago, only like 2-3 years ago when a United DC-10 emergency landed at DCA cause the weather was "socked" in at BWI and IAD. I live right near the approach path for 19 at DCA, in Arlington, VA..so yes, durign the time I was lucky that ...Jump to post
What I've heard, here are the long-distance flights and airlines that will unlikely to be flying out of DCA. Long-Range: American Airlines to LAX Boeing 757 Delta Airlines to Salt Lake City Boeing 757 Frontier Airlines to Denver 737-300 National Airlines to Las Vegas 757 Short Range: American Trans ...Jump to post
At DCA, Gravelly Point is nice park to watch planes arriving on the "River Visual" for RWY 19. Two ways to get there, by car, go on the GW Parkway North and turn right to the park. Or you can bike to the park which there is a bike route along the park. If you happen to be at the airport, you can wal...Jump to post
I liked to go to Denver. the Dulles Observation deck is mighty fine, but sometimes it's cool when a heavy i.e Spanair's 767-300 taxi's by you, what a sight. But from the Ob's deck, the runway is really far, it's about a mile apart from RWY 19L/1R to 19R/1L, so you're in between. But binoculars will ...Jump to post
It's a bargain...$69 RT to LGA or BOS...Last summer I paid $120 RT from DCA-LGA on USAir Shuttle. i'm thinking of flying either boston or LGA for a day for aviation photography. BTw, the a/c was a 727...now it's gonna be a A320...what a change.
I have been on a flight from DCA-LGA, USAirways Shuttle, 727 last summer and I visited the cockpit when the passengers were boarding. I told them I'm gonna be a private pilot and the Flight Engineer actaully let me "pre-start" the engines and I thought he was joking but he's not. The Flight Engineer...Jump to post
Wide-body aircraft as large and heavy as the DC-10 normally do not operate at National, with its relatively short 6,800-foot main runway. Once it had landed, authorities were concerned about whether it could safely take-off. But the three-engine plane, carrying a relatively light fuel load, made it ...Jump to post
WEATHER FORCES JET TO LAND AT NATIONAL (Friday, April 17, 1998) Plane with 300 Aboard Circled BWI, Dulles First Late afternoon storms and high winds forced a United DC-10 airliners, low on fuel with nearly 300 people aboard, to make an emergency landing yesterday at Reagan National Airport, just bef...Jump to post
I flew on UAL few years ago on a A320, and guess what? I wanted a cold, I mean cold coke and a good big straw to suck the drink out. But, nooo, they gave me a warm coke can and a red small coffee straw. They told me they ran out of ice and straws.
My favourite approach is my home airport, Washington Reagan Nat'l Airport in D.C. THe River Visual 19 approach is great. I.E. The approach is probably liked the IGS 13 approach into Hong Kong. Pilot's must bank a right turn and follow to river to avoid entering restricted airspace and line up with t...Jump to post
Their has been an error in my last message I quoted "I also remembered on the PHX-ORD flgiht, the MD80s engine's wouldn't start so there has been an hour delay." The correction should be "I also remembered on the DFW-PHX flight, the MD80s engine's wouldn't start so there has been an hour delay." Tha...Jump to post
My first flight was from Germany to Chicago on a 747 after I was born. I was a baby, but I didn't remembered the flight. I was happily sound asleep. My real flight I remembered was from DCA-DFW-PHX on AA both MD80. Since I was young and flying alone to see my family, I was then esscourted by F/As to...Jump to post
