Re: Amazon Fleet Discussion - 2020

Ok, in what scenario are dollies not needed anymore? You have to have dolly strings to move the containers from sort to aircraft, unless you have a nose dock but those are few and far between. The only alternative is to have trucks back directly up to the loader, but that's a very inefficient way to...

Re: Amazon Fleet Discussion - 2020

And your missing how the ramp and an airport works. An airport won’t spend the money to disrupt the whole airport for several flights a day. The airport is a complex and dangerous place. There are way too many variables for such a feat to be accomplished. You have no idea what an airport and airpla...

Re: Peak Season 2020 Cargo/Express Discussion Thread

I believe they are using it for the latter, sort of like the role ANC plays for US-Asia routes. CX747 will know more though. Interesting to see cargo airlines still doing this. For many, many years FedEx used ALA as its stopover point trans-Asia, before the 777. MD11s, sometimes multiple, were ther...

Not sure if it interests anybody, but my 767 flight today was just shy of 100K lbs total payload. By far the heaviest it's been this month. Excited to see what tonight's payload will be. That's a great weight for the 767. Let me guess, CG up toward the nose! 100k is certainly a bit higher than aver...

Re: Peak Season 2020 Cargo/Express Discussion Thread

Could these ANC ground times be simply a result of curfews at several main airports in eastern Asia? If you're westbound and arrive in ANC late, you end up having to wait for hours until you can hit your destination airport when the curfew lifts in the morning. If you're eastbound and capturing tran...

Couple different angles to the answer here. FSD might not be that large of a metro, but it's the biggest city in quite a large area, and obviously the economic center of the state. UPS and FedEx have feeders that cover the state from the FSD ramp - for instance, FX flies freight from Aberdeen, Pier...
