The Lear 31a I flew had a maximum service ceiling of 51000 feet, so depending on pressure it is a maximum of FL510! We took it only once up to FL510, but that´s not that much fun! In my company they are turned on as soon as you enter an active runway. They atay usully on the whole flight. We switch them off in clouds though, because it could irritade other airplane and its blinding yourself.

Like JETPILOT said, we just reduce power as much that we have the desired airspeed and rate of descend!
In my airplane the Dornier 328 you reduce power on initial descend only to about 45% tourque.
In a Jet it´s different though!

So first or at the same time, depends, you spray hot water on the airplane and then the liquid mostly Hoest 1704 type1 comse on! The liquid is over the whole surface now! Yeah, The Dornier Jet but also the Turbo prop rocks!! I fly on both the 328 prop and jet! It´s a common type rating. So you have to make the simulator check not on both airplanes. You change every check, wich is every 6 months! Go to Europe! There are some of the Dornier Jets! Sincerly, Benjamin!
