OK, just a personal tribute here. I was lucky enough to have my first encounter & flight on the mighty 330 even before it entered service, on a route-proofing flight with passengers, operated by Airbus and the French DGAC between ORY and NCE in the summer of 1993. A soon-to-be Air Inter bird, s...Jump to post
Revelation, I do hope you're wrong… However, I am even less optimistic… (therefore, I hope I'm wrong too!). I believe we've seen the summit of commercial aviation, for quite a long time, if not for good. The previous phraseology was, "N123, Runway XX, position and hold." which was replaced with, "N123, Runway XX, line up and wait." When they changed that, I said "position and hold" is something you do in an airplane, "line up and wait" is something you do at ...Jump to post

In the US we have a saying that is appropriate: "All dressed up, and nowhere to go".
Yesterday there was a 787 flying from YYZ to YUL with AC; I saw it coming in to land, from Jean-Talon market in Montreal. AC will fly widebodies between YYZ and YUL on the Rapidair routes. Common to see 787s, 330s, and 777s. Or L1011s, 747s, and 767s back in the day. Yup, that was the "good ol...Jump to post

Well, after BBD's utter failure, if Embraer feels ready to go, please, try. However unpleasant were some of EMBSPB's comments about the CSeries, I wish you success. Embraer can hardly be as mismanaged as BBD was.Jump to post
This should be addressed by your operator, NOT on a public forum. It’s a security procedure, thus closely held. What is it with so many people in this forum to ignore pure security related issues? I've been complaining of this for over 20 years on this forum which largely influenced my withdrawal f...Jump to post
Thanks for that impressive work, Enilria!
Looks like only LH and its family are sustaining a bit more than a bare skeleton (if only) of international flights to the USA…
(…) With regard to the Vortex Dissipators, I can’t tell you how many times I walked into one during the walk around. I’ll tell you, I learned some pretty spicy curses in French during my Arctic time. Pray tell :) As it's in French it will not get censored over here (hoping to discover any newer one).Jump to post

It is very quiet indeed. When I heard one airplane today, I ran out to see it! And it was a 732 (I knew from the sound!) coming from YHU.
… Forgot to mention that I live close to the path to 24L. Normally it was quite busy… up to sometime at the end of winter.
Back to the topic.
AC is laying off 15 200 unionized workers, plus 1300 higher up, in stages from April 3rd and staged over two months. Basically, the company is almost shut down.

… not quite the same as the Queen, but Air Transat's A310 are also being retired from service today. So, all in all, three fleets coming to an end: KL and QF 744 plus TS 310. And on top of that, it rains in Montreal. Sad day. Not yet, Air Transat’s A310 will be retired on March 31 https://www.route...Jump to post
So, KL's and QF's 744 all retired today, and TS' 310 in two days.
I wonder how many complete fleets will have been retired when restrictions are lifted. And how many carriers will have failed.
[edit: corrected date for TS A310]

About IQ: yesterday I heard over the radio that finance minister Pierre Fitzgibbon hopes that Quebec will about recover what it spent with the CSeries… I was driving, sorry if the reference is a bit hazy, but I believe it was at Radio-Canada's "Le 15-18".
