I read that the 787 had active load alleviation in the wings. How does this affect the 150% test? Do they have to test as though the alleviation system is inactive, or do they factor in the reduce loads provided by the alleviation system into the 150% calculation?

I live underneath the approach for IAD 30 and I can attest that it is used for landing when the wind is bad enough. I actually wish that it would happen more often so that I see 747s more frequently!

Fuel Consumption As Aircraft Ages

Does the fuel consumption (and thereby range) of an aircraft change as the aircraft ages? Cars will get better gas mileage after they are broken in, so I was wondering if a similar effect happens with airplanes. Perhaps the range actually decreases as the aircraft skin gets dirty or dinged?
